PROJECT & RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Research: Distributed Architecture for Mitigating DDOS Attacks
Duration : Nov 2006 – Mar 2007
Description : In this paper, we take a clean-slate approach and argue for a separate
security plane to detect and mitigate DDoS attacks. The decision logic
of security mechanisms is distributed in a small set of active security
guards (sentinels) each responsible for a set of routers. The active
sentinels collaborate (proactively and reactively) to mitigate attacks.
Project: SecDB Decommissioning
Duration : Apr 2005 – Jun 2005
Description : In order to the SecDB (a financial database) to be replaced by new
database smoothly, the existing applications (around 700 applications)
which use SecDB must be redirected to use new database through API
(originally the applications use SQL to query data).
Role : Requirement Analyzing; Performing detailed design; Coding; Unit
Testing & Assembly Testing; Software Configuration Management.
Project : Develop COM wrapper for G API
Duration : Jul 2004 – Mar 2004
Description : In order to let existing VBA applications, which originally make direct
calls to Database, communicate with G service (a huge financial service
system which provides services through a set of APIs written in C++),
a Component Object Model (COM) layer needs to be created.
Role : Find ways of implementing overloading and multiple inheritances in
COM; Participating in Design; Coding; Developing test drivers; Software
Configuration Management; Writing technical documents.
Research : Geophysics 2D Data Processing Software
Duration : May 2003 - Jun 2004
Description : Software research project funded by Jilin University. Through
combining the knowledge of geophysics with computer scientific
visualization and software engineering techniques, conduct research on
how to develop the data processing software which utilizes a new data
processing technique, Depth Curves Method, in applied geophysics.
Role : In charge of the whole project
Project : Uyghur Script Input System for Windows
Duration : Dec 1999 - Feb 2000
Description : Design a Uyghur (Uyghur is a Turkic language of Uyghur people who
live in Xinjiang in northwestern China) script input system on Windows
98 platform, since Windows 98 does not support a Uyghur script IME.
Role : Designing the structure of the Uyghur script font; designing the True
Type fonts for Uyghur script.
