2. RESULT Analysis
I used a random sample of 20 students from the college to give my question to the summary of
results. They all agreed that there wasn’t much sense of community at college which was reflected in
there ranking of most important to them college life was consistent at the bottom whilst life outside
college and own interests, which were music, shopping, see friends going out to eat, where
consistently at the top. From this I can see that I need to create a magazine that connects with
personal interest whilst still having college events in there to create a sense of community.
60% of my sample said they would like a magazine they could contribute to with competitions, and
chance to give an option on issues and write in article them self. 55% of the sample said they
thought the first magazine was the best and most appealing because the image and colour scheme
was trendy and the model was the one that they could connect to the most. Whereas the other
two were sporty and they thought them it couldn’t be relatable to people who do not take sports at
college. And the final one was very conservative and to educational based by the image and the
fonts. I didn’t ask about paying for the magazine as I thought it would be a trial and see if we get the
large amount of readership then begin to charge or possibly release an online. And the central image
has got to appeal to a wide audience and have content that can be useful at college as well as
outside, such as vouchers, promotion and time tables.
