2. ReenlistmentOpportunityWindowwillbeginon1Oct13andwillcontinuethrough30
Sep 14. Soldiers with an FY14 ETS date (1 Jan 2014 thru 30 Sep 2014) and FY15 ETS date (1
October 2014 thru 30 September 2015) are consideredinthereenlistmentopportunity window.
ThepolicyofrequiringSoldierstoreenlistpriorto90daysfromETS(90daywindow) remainsineffect.
CareerCounselorsmustensuretheycontinueto counselSoldiersand
preparereenlistmentpackets,IAWAR601-280.SoldierswhohaveacontractualFY15ETS date may
be processed for reenlistment in RETAINwithoutrestriction. Soldierswhohavea contractual
FY14 ETS date must be processed forreenlistmentundertheprovisionsof paragraph 3B (MA-O)
of ALARACT020/2014andcurrentEMT message14-09(Precision Retention).
PARTII – TermRestrictions
3.
ReenlistmentOptions
areonlyavailable,ifotherwisequalified,tothoseSoldiers
at
therankofSpecialist(SPC)orabove,who
areconsideredinthereenlistmentopportunity
window;processingmayvary. The eligibility for reenlistment options are as follows:
a.InitialTermSoldiers:
(1) Serving in an over strength MOS (N/Y)are limited to the Regular Army
ReenlistmentOptionorArmyTrainingReenlistment Option (Soldiers must select an MOS
listedasunderstrength(Y/N) or balanced (N/N) on the current IN/OUT CallMILPER
Message).Note:Those(N/Y)Soldierslistedunder theCommander’sAllocationProcessin
thePrecisionRetentionMILPERapprovedforcontinuedserviceintheirPMOSareentitledto the
same reenlistmentoptions listed in this paragraph. Options authorized by this policy message
are in addition to the option guidanceunderPrecisionRetention.
(2) Servinginabalanced(N/N) are eligible for the Regular Army Reenlistment Option,
CurrentStationStabilizationReenlistmentOption,Army TrainingReenlistmentOption, Overseas
Assignment Reenlistment Option, andCONUSStation-of-ChoiceReenlistment Option.
2. (3) Serving in an under strength MOS (Y/N) are eligiblefor the Regular Army
Reenlistment Option, Current StationStabilizationReenlistmentOption,OverseasAssignment
Reenlistment Option, and CONUSStation-of-ChoiceReenlistment Option.
(4) That have a contractual FY14 ETS datewill be offered retention options in
accordancewiththeneedsoftheArmyand asoutlinedincurrentEMTmessage14-09
(PrecisionRetention).
b.Mid-CareerSoldiers:
(1) Serving in an over strength MOS (N/Y)are limited to the Regular Army
ReenlistmentOptionorArmyTrainingReenlistment Option (Soldiers must select an MOS
listedasunderstrength(Y/N) or balanced (N/N) on the current IN/OUT CallMILPER
Message).Note:Those(N/Y)Soldierslistedunder theCommander’sAllocationProcessin
thePrecisionRetentionMILPERapprovedforcontinuedserviceintheirPMOSareentitledto the
same reenlistmentoptions listed in this paragraph. Options authorized by this policy message

MILPERMessage),OverseasAssignmentReenlistmentOption,and CONUSStation-of- Choice
ReenlistmentOption.
(3) Serving in an under strength MOS (Y/N) are eligiblefor the Regular Army
Reenlistment Option, Current StationStabilizationReenlistmentOption,OverseasAssignment
Reenlistment Option, andCONUSStation-of-ChoiceReenlistmentOption.
(4) ThathaveacontractualFY14 ETS datewill be offered retention options in
accordancewiththeneedsoftheArmyand asoutlinedincurrentEMTmessage14-09
(PrecisionRetention).
c. CareeristSoldiers:
(1) SPC, SGT, and SSG with less than 10 years of AFS on thedateofdischarge,
servinginanoverstrengthMOS(N/Y)arelimitedtotheRegularArmyReenlistmentOptionor
ArmyTrainingReenlistmentOption(SoldiersmustselectanMOSlistedonthecurrentSRB
MILPERMessageasTier4orhigher). Note:Those(N/Y)Soldierslistedunderthe
Commander’sAllocationProcessinthePrecisionRetentionMILPERapprovedforcontinued
serviceintheirPMOSareentitledtothesamereenlistmentoptionslistedinthisparagraph.
Optionsauthorizedbythispolicymessageareinadditiontotheoptionguidanceunder
PrecisionRetention.
(2) SPC,SGT,andSSGwithlessthan10years of AFS on the date of discharge,
servinginabalancedMOS(N/N)oranunderstrength MOS (Y/N) are limited to the Regular
ArmyReenlistmentOption.
3. (3)Regardlessof strength, SSG and above,with 10 or more years of AFS on date of
dischargemustreenlistundertheIndefiniteReenlistment Program. Soldiersmay request/be
approvedforreclassificationfortraininginto anMOSauthorizedaTier4orhigherbonusas
publishedinthecurrentSRBMILPERMessage in conjunction with their Indefinite Reenlistment.
(4) Regardless of strength, SSG (P)and above with less than 10 years of AFS on date
of discharge are limited to the RegularArmy Reenlistment Option.
(5) ThathaveacontractualFY14 ETSdatewill be offered retention options in
accordancewiththeneedsoftheArmyand asoutlinedincurrentEMTmessage14-09
(PrecisionRetention).
PARTIII – OptionRestrictions
4. Reenlistment Options:
a. RegularArmyReenlistmentOption(E-1): New ETS date must be greater than one
yearfromcontractualETSdateexceptforthoseSoldiersreenlistingundertheIndefinite
Reenlistment Program.
(1) Soldiersservinginanoverstrength MOS (N/Y) may reenlist for a 2 year term length, if
otherwise qualified. Over strength (N/Y) Soldiers eligible to receive a Tier 2 or higher
SRBasannouncedinthecurrentSRBMILPER Message may reenlist for a 3 – 6 year term
lengthinordertomaximizebonus entitlement,ifotherwisequalified.
(2) Soldiersservinginabalanced(N/N)or under strength MOS (Y/N) may reenlist for a
2–6yeartermlength, if otherwise qualified.
(3) Soldierswho have a contractual FY14 ETS date and offered this reenlistment option
may reenlist for a 2 year term length,ifotherwisequalified. SoldierseligibletoreceiveaTier2 or
higher SRB as announced in the current SRB MILPER Message may reenlist for a 3 – 6
yeartermlengthinordertomaximizebonusentitlement,ifotherwisequalified.
b. CurrentStationStabilizationReenlistmentOption(E-2): New ETS date must be
greaterthanoneyearfromcontractualETSdate. Soldiersmay reenlist for a 3 – 6 year term
length, if otherwisequalified.
(1) CONUS -SoldiersassignedtoCONUSunitswhoqualifyforthisoptionare guaranteed 1
to 12 months stabilization from date of reenlistment(CareerCounselorswill verify that AEA
code and end dates are updated). Soldiers reenlisting for a Location specific SRB (other
than Deployed Location) will bestabilizedforaminimumof24months.
4. (2) OCONUS - Soldiers assigned to OCONUS unitswhoqualifyforthisoptionare
guaranteed 1 to 12 months stabilizationfromDEROS(Career Counselorswillverifythat
DEROSdatesareupdated). Soldiers must reenlist at least 6 months prior to DEROS. Soldiers
reenlisting for a Location specificSRB (other than Deployed Location) will be stabilized for a
minimum of 24 months for long tourareasand12months for short tour areas.
(3) SoldierswhohaveacontractualFY14ETSdatearenoteligible for this option. (4)
Soldiersassignedtoaninactivatingunitarenoteligibleforthisoption.
(5) As an exception: SoldierswhohaveacontractualFY15ETSdate,servinginan
overstrengthMOS(N/Y)aslistedinthecurrentIN/OUT CallsMILPERMessage,identifiedin
paragraph 5 with a (3), are authorized to request thisoption only if currently serving in a valid
airborneposition.
c. ArmyTraining ReenlistmentOption(E-3): New ETS date must be greater than one
yearfromcontractualETSdate.Soldiersmayreenlistfora3–6 yeartermlength,ifotherwise qualified.
Soldiermustbeavailableformovement at the requestedtraining start date.
Soldiers must have a minimum of 12 months timeonstationandhave met the minimum SRR
forthecurrenttourbefore departingtheinstallation. SoldierswhohaveacontractualFY14
ETS date MAY be offered this option,ifotherwisequalified. Additionaltrainingprocessing
guidanceandproceduresare outlined below.
(1)
SoldiersassignedtoOCONUSunitsareeligibletostartprocessing18monthsprior
toDEROS.
TrainingwillnotbescheduledpriortoaSoldier'sDEROSormovementavailability
date,whicheverisgreater.
(2) Soldiers with an SMSC code of "A", "F", or "I"areauthorizedtorequesttraining.
Training start date will be no earlier than the stopmove end date and no later than 180 days
prior to the unit's next LAD. As an exception,Soldiersassignedtounitsidentifiedfora
SecurityForceAssistanceAdvisorTeam(SFAAT)not directly supporting an operational
requirementareexempt from this restriction.
d.OverseasAssignmentReenlistmentOption(E-4): New ETS date must be greater
thanoneyearfromcontractualETSdate. Soldiersmayreenlistfora4–6yeartermlengthfor long tour
areas or for a 3 – 6year term length for short tour areas, if otherwisequalified.
SoldiersassignedtocurrentTDAunitswhoreenlist for Option 4 must reenlist for a MTO&E
unit;theyarenotauthorizedtoreenlistforanotherTDAlocation. ReportdatesandTOS requirements
are IAW RRB messages.
(1) Soldiers who have a contractual FY14 ETS date are not eligible for this option.
(2) As an exception: SoldierswhohaveacontractualFY15ETSdate,servinginan
overstrengthMOS(N/Y)aslistedinthecurrentIN/OUT CallsMILPERMessage,identifiedin
paragraph5witha(3),areauthorizedtorequestthisoptiononlyifreenlistingforavalid airborne
position.
5. e. CONUSStation-of-ChoiceReenlistmentOption(E-5): New ETS date must be
greaterthanoneyearfromcontractualETSdate. Soldiersmay reenlist for a 3 – 6 year term
length, if otherwise qualified. SoldiersassignedtocurrentTDAunitswhoreenlistforOption5 must
reenlist for a MTO&E unit; they are not authorized to reenlist for another TDA location.
ReportdatesandTOSrequirementsareIAWRRBmessages.
(1) Soldiers who have a contractual FY14 ETS date are not eligible for this option.
(2) As an exception: SoldierswhohaveacontractualFY15ETSdate,servinginan
overstrengthMOS(N/Y)aslistedinthecurrentIN/OUTCallsMILPERMessage,identifiedin
paragraph 5 with a (3), are authorized to request this option only if reenlisting for a valid
airborne position.
PARTIV–AdditionalInstructions
5. Deployedordeployingunits:reenlistmentoptionsthat result in a Soldiers movement out of the
unit (report dates and training start dates) must be accomplished prior to LAD minus180 days
or must be after the 60 or 90 day stabilization period following redeployment. Movement
options for Soldiers assigned to OCONUS AFM unitsremainsdrivenbytheirDEROSdate.
DEROS adjustments may be accomplishedIAWAR614-30for SoldierswhohaveaDEROS
between LAD minus 90 and LAD minus 180 days and desire to reenlist for a movement option
tomovepriortoLAD-180. Asanexception,SoldiersassignedtounitsidentifiedforaSecurity
ForceAssistanceAdvisorTeam(SFAAT)missionareexemptfromthisrequirement.
6. Thismessagewill changeappropriatelyinordertosupportstrategicinitiativesimpactingthe
programandthetotalforce. TOS requirements currentlystatedinAR601-280are
supersededbythismessage and will be updated in the newAR601-280,uponpublication.
