Editor's Notes
Introduce self: Hi I’m LT Jenni Reid, I recently took over Sprial 2 (which is the enlisted AC2RC) branch for the CTO. Prior to this I was the branch head for the officer portion of the CTO and prior to that I recruited for 3.5 years at NRD Michigan. Today I have with me OS1 Sharon Etheridge who is the LPO for spiral 2 and is able to answer many questions you may have about our process, as well as NCC Jeff Garrett the spiral 2 LCPO who will be presenting today. Name: OS1 Sharon Etheridge Time in service: Entered Navy Reserve in 2005, May 26, 2011 made 6 years, mobilized twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007/2008) and again in support of Enduring Freedom (2008-2009), and I was fortunate to be recalled to active duty in Oct 2009 to the CTO I was one of the first enlisted hired to help implement the second phase of CTO (which is Spiral Two), and have been with the enlisted side of CTO for 1 year and 8 months now
* 50% of those sailors attending TAP class do not have PTS approval Many of those that had received an acitve duty PTS approval but choose to separate believe they can use that same quota for the SELRES. Who is the CTO- one of the initiatives developed by the CNP to support the Navy’s continuum of service to encourage a lifetime of Navy service.
We transition NAVETS separating from active duty directly into the Navy Reserve. Many of these Sailors are PTS disapproved to remain on active duty and utilize the SELRES option to continue in the Navy thru the Navy Reserve. Thru our streamlined process, we are able to provide seamless transitions to facilitate 72 hour transitions between components Many Sailor’s that call our office are unclear about the many benefits of affiliating with the Navy Reserve. In our initial contacts with the Sailor’s, we answer questions, address concerns, and educate them on the opportunities and benefits of joining the reserve. Direct affiliation from active duty means Sailor’s come to the table with the education, knowledge and experience to reduce training costs in the Reserve.
Spiral 1 (Officer)- Officer Transition Assistants transitions Officers into the Reserve. Spiral 2 (Enlisted)- Enlisted Transition Assistants transitions enlisted into the Reserve. Spiral 3 (RC/AC)- includes processing of definite recall and indefinite RC to AC transitions . They are currently processing ET(SS) for recall to active duty.
PTS must be submitted 3-4 months from SEAOS for a SELRES quota (can they submit for SELRES before the 5 month mark?)
If a Sailors contact the CTO and they are within the PTS window to apply for a SELRES, we direct that Sailor back to their CCC to for a PTS SELRES submission. If they are outside of the PTS window, they are referred to their local recruiter for processing.
Sailors/CCC should not be contacting the Reserve Centers. 30 days prior to Sailor EAOS, TA will contact the NRA for the Sailor billet request Re enlisting members must re enlist the day after they separate from active duty Return with the signed docs a signed copy of the member 4 DD 214 (to show re code) Affiliation is submitted to Central Processing for the NSIPS gain and IDT o
Sailor and dependents eligible for 180 days of medical benefits through TAMP (FREE!!)
