7. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โOriginally it was because of girls,
but eventually it became more for
a sense of achievement and
surpassing my previous records.โ
Mark Mulrainey, Marathoner/Triathlete
13. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โAfter training swimming as a
teenager I am simply addicted to
intense training. I have lots of fuel
to burn and I can perform any
activity that makes me sweat. I
love the state of mind and body
after heavy training. This is the best
thing you can do clothed.โ
Arek Kieres, Runner/Triathlete
19. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โFor the satisfaction of setting and
achieving a difficult goal. For that rare
moment when all other thoughts melt
away and all I can feel is my heart
beating,my lungs working, my feet
pounding. For the natural high
afterwards. For the friends I have
made.โ
Mark Poczman, Runner/Cyclist/future Triathlete
26. WHY I DO ITโฆ
Because It makes me happy!
- it makes me smile - the endorphins boost
my mood immediately after the run/swim/
bike
- it engages me. There are moments, when I
forget about everything and focus entirely
on running
- it helps me to build important relationships
- in WITC I met amazing people and some of
them became my best friendsโฆ
Ewa Smiechowska, Marathoner/Triathlete
27. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โฆ- it gives my life more meaning - when I
run with Spartans to collect money for
charity or help my friends achieve better
results
- it gives me the sense of achievement -
when I compete with others and with
myself and win.
Ewa Smiechowska, Marathoner/Triathlete
38. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โI like setting new goals in order to see if
I can achieve them - this is mostly the
matter of ambition. Secondly I want to
keep fit and by having planned several
events annually I get the motivation to
train.
No motivation - no training.โ
Maciej Brzeziลski, Marathoner/Triathlete
48. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โWhy do I run? I started running to keep fit, then I
started thinking about important things while I was
running and I got addicted to it. Every day running
25 km along the beach while I had a feeling that
with every step, minute and kilometer I was better
as an athlete an as a manโฆ I couldn't stop...
The only thing that could stop me was my knee
injury - I had surgery 2 weeks ago and now I'm
counting the days over next 5 months until I will be
able to run again. It will be a long winter of
rehabilitation, but most important is that during the
spring I will start running again! I will start living...โ
Radek Pietroล, Runner
57. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โI run to get endorphins, to enjoy
life and feel my muscles working.
Also, to make sure I really can go
that distance and I'm the only one
to set the limits.โ
Paula Nowak, Runner
61. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โI run because if takes off from my
body the cumulated bad energy from
the day , my mind is clear during and
after run and I feel very happy. I do
not have bad thoughts but only
positive energy. I love to run with
music and also with the people who
motivate me and encourage me to
run.โ
Agata Borkowska, Runner/Cyclist
65. WHY I DO ITโฆ
Training is the best thing to keep focused.
That's my "sharping the sawโ. Generally,
we are humans. If one finds something
"right" for him, he gets there, no matter
what. Ironman is right for me. Get there
and have fun. No rational explanation.
...btw, did I mention the chicks at the
finish line? ;-))
Adam Piekarski, Marathoner/Triathlete
75. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โI love it, not only does it make me
feel good inside and out but it is an
amazing way to stay fit and meet
people. Challenging my body and
mind to reach its maximum potential,
is truly motivating. Running is not only
a hobby but a way of life!โ

81. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โI run because I like competing
with myself. I cycle because it
gives me a pleasure. Doing sports
makes me feel good and alive.โ
Martins Stagitis, Runner/Cyclist/future Triathlete
95. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โIt is a great opportunity to grow. When
you push yourself to higher limits you
have to leave the comfort bubble that
you are in .... and because I am blessed
with the physical ability to do it.
I heard a quote recently: "If I left earth
with my body intact, then it would have
been a waste on earth".โ
Clinton Agnew, Runner
100. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โSwimming is lot of fun. It helps to
concentrate on a certain activity, it's
a meditation. Running helps to breath
fresh air, if to choose the right route.
Biking helps to understand how far it's
possible to go, from all meaning, to
check the edge of hopeless.. and
then to find the power to return back
home :)โ
Leonid Bandrivchak, Runner/Cyclist
105. WHY I DO ITโฆ
โI do triathlon because I enjoy
challenging my body to do more
than I ever expected it could.
I run because it's immediate
gratification that just keeps giving.
It usually feels good when I do it,
but it always feels good when I've
done it.โ
