NAFTA allows Canada, the US, and Mexico to trade freely without tariffs. Maquiladoras are Mexican factories built near the border that employ cheap Mexican labor. American business owners would generally support NAFTA as it allows them to move factories to Mexico for cheaper labor while still accessing US markets tariff-free. However, American workers would oppose it as they risk losing jobs to Mexican factories. The environmental impact is also a concern as increased industrialization could worsen pollution across North America.
