Tampa Bay Young Republicans
                              General Meeting
                               July 28, 2009

                        Minutes prepared by: Kim Hill

1. Call to order at 7:14 pm by Adam Smith
2. Adam introduced Rachel Burgin our state representative from District 56.
3. Guest Speaker – Rachel Burgin, Republican, State House of Representatives for
   District 56.
       a) History
          i. Started by working a grassroots campaign for her brother
         ii. Worked at the County Commissioner’s Office and saw where our tax
                dollars really go.
        iii. Was a legislative aide for the Vice Chair of Education.
       b) Beliefs
          i. Rachel believes that our freedoms are under attack so we need to
                support candidates with our similar beliefs and principles.
         ii. We need to articulate our message to everyone and explain how it is
                relevant to them.
4. Adam thanked A.J. Matthews for attending and Tim from Eddie Adam’s
   campaign.
5. Adam announced that we met quorum so we will be voting tonight.
   a. The motion for amendments and bylaws to the constitution passed.
   b. A motion to elect all of the undisputed candidates was passed.
6. A.J. Matthews swore in the newly elected officers.
7. Committee Reports
   a. AJ Dorsey thanked Adam for all of the time that he put into the club.
   a. Vice President – Ash Mason
          i. Ash advised that his goals for the club were to make the meetings
                more about issues and ideas, learn how to defend the issues, and learn
                our constitutional rights.
   b. Treasurer & Fundraising Committee Report – Scott Strepina
                 i. $145.55 in account
               ii. We had outstanding support at the Rays game last night.
              iii. We are going to have more activities that are directed towards
                    raising funds.
   c. Membership Committee – Jose Herrero
                 i. There are 21 members in attendance and 12 non-members.
               ii. There is a Meet & Greet on August 12th at Cork on Howard Ave.
              iii. We welcomed two new members, Garrett and Daniel.
              iv. There is a Meet & Greet the last Thursday of the month at the
                    Acropolis in New Tampa.
   d. Political Affairs Committee – Dan Sullivan
             i.      Dan announced that next month on August 28th the HCRP is
                    having a Summer Dinner Series with Adam Putnam. We will be
hosting a private meet and greet with him beforehand at 5:00 or
                     5:30. This will be open exclusively to YR’s.
              ii.    The following week we have tentatively scheduled Carey Baker to
                     speak at our next Speaker Series.
             iii. Next month’s meeting will feature Greg Steube and Bob McCann
                     who are running for District 67.
    e. Marketing Committee – Jonathan Torres
               i. Excited about the potential for our new board
              ii. Jonathan announced that because of his involvement in the YR’s
                     he has gotten the position of Legislative Affairs for Ad 2, which is
                     sponsored through the American Advertising Federation.
             iii. Facebook has recently created fan pages, which are much easier to
                     use then group pages so we will be changing our TBYR page into
                     a fan page. Please become a fan of TBYR.
    f. Social Committee – James Alvarez
                  i. Had a great social last night at the Rays game.
                 ii. Planning to have karaoke night on 8/21 or 8/22.
    g. Community Affairs – David Atkins
                  i. We will be volunteering at the Children’s Cancer Center on Sept.
                     26th at 8:30 or 9:30.
                 ii. Is trying to put together a comedy night fundraiser.
8. 2009 FFYR Quarterly
    a. The quarterly will be held at the Holiday Inn in Sarasota from August 14th –
        16th. You can register at FFYR.org.
9. 2009 YRNF Bi-Annual National Convention
    a. Adam announced that we had 6 members attend the YRNF Convention in
        Indianapolis.
10. Hillsborough Republican Executive Committee
    a. Adam encouraged everyone to join the REC.
    b. Adam announced that he was running for REC treasurer and he added that he
        hopes to get other YR’s in board positions.
11. Drive the Discussion
     a. On Aug. 21st and 22nd we will have a Drive the Discussion initiative in
         Orlando.
