Mamma Mia is a jukebox musical based on the songs of ABBA. It tells the fictional story of Sophie, who is preparing for her wedding and wants her father to attend, though she does not know which of three men from her mother Dona's past could be her father. On the wedding day, Sophie invites all three without telling Dona. When Dona sees them, she is surprised, but one of the men still loves her and proposes, which she unexpectedly accepts, marrying on the same day instead of Sophie. The musical features expressive actors singing ABBA songs across changing sets and costumes and has been successful in London and New York, winning several awards.
