1. We Do Not Inherit the Earth from Our Ancestors; We
Borrow It from Our Children
Behind writing this blog today, I have no secret agenda. I am struggling
for my future. In fact, we all are fighting for our future because losing
my future is not like losing an election or a few points on the stock
market.
I am writing this blog for all forthcoming generations.
I am writing this blog on behalf of the starving children around the world
whose cries go unheard.
I am writing this blog for the innumerable animals dying in the hands of

2. our mother earth for the reason that they have nowhere left to go.
Nowhere
on earth is free from ecological damage and our mother earth is in an
ailing state.
I am terrified to go out in the sun now because of the increasing holes in
the ozone layer. I am anxious to breathe in the air because of the harmful
and life-taking chemicals present in it.
No-a-days in this era of self-development we hear regarding animals and
plants going on its last legs everyday and finally going extinct forever.
We all dream of seeing the beauty of nature, a variety of species of
animals and birds, a range of beautiful forests and landscape but have we
ever wondered that will they even exist for our future generations to see.
All this is happening in front of our eyes and yet we act as if we have all
the time we want and all the solutions to these unending problems. I am
only a child and I don't have all the solutions, but I want you to realise
that you also don't have solutions to the following problems:1.
You don't know how to fix the holes in our ozone layer.
2. you don't know how to bring a dead baby back to life who died of
drinking polluted water.
3.
You don't know how to heal a fish full of cancers.
4. You don't know how to bring back an animal that is now extinct
andyou can't bring back forests that once grew and now have been
converted
into a desert.
*"If we don't know how to fix it, then we ought to stop breaking it!"*
We do not own this planet rather we are just the caretakers of this planet

3. because we have not inherited it from Our Ancestors; we have borrowed
it
from our children. We need to take serious measures to sustain the
continuity of life on this planet because we are not suppose to leave our
successors with a scorched planet of advancing deserts, poor landscapes
and
ailing environment. We are to deliver them a land that is rich of flora and
fauna and natural resources that will serve not just our immediate but
more
generations to come.
We may belong to *different* countries, speak *different* languages,
practice *different* religions, have *different* cultures but we all are
the children of our mother earth and we belong to the *same *family.
We are all in this family together and should act as one single world
towards one single goal i.e. development of our mother earth. It is
important to change our view from a mechanistic view to a holistic and
ecological view of the world.
In our country, we make so much waste, we buy and throw away, buy
and throw
away, and yet we do not share with the needy. Even when we have more
than
enough, we are unwilling to share, we have become so much greedy that
we
are afraid to let go some of our wealth.
While conducting a survey a poor child begging on streets told us: I wish I
was rich and if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes,
medicine, shelter and love and affection. If a child on the street who has
nothing, is willing to share, why are we, who have everything, still so
greedy?

4. Do we ever wonder that if all the money spent on war was spent on
ending
poverty and searching solutions to environmental problems, then what a
wonderful place this earth would be!
At school we are taught to behave in the world. You teach us:
1.
Not to fight with others.
2.
To respect others.
3.
To clean up our mess.
4.
Not to hurt other creatures.
5.
To share and not to be greedy.
Then why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do? Seeing
this
hypocrisy in today's era Markus Natten says*"They talked of love and preached of love,*
*But did not act so lovingly"*
Do not forget we are deciding what kind of world we and our future
generations will grow up in.
*"You are what you do, not what you say"*

5. Please make your actions reflect your words. You must be the change you
wish to see in the world. Save the world to save yourself. Heal the world,
make it better place to live in.
