1. Evaluation Q2
As my magazine has a specific target audience of people who are of the age 15 – 18 I have targeted a specific
social group. The social group I have chosen to target I members of the black London youth mainly however
this magazine is for anyone who enjoys Rap/Grime Music which is of the UK .
I have chosen this particular group because I personally believe that this group doesn’t have a source of
physical social media which they can interact with on a personal level like you can with a magazine. I have
also created this magazine for this group as members of this specific social group enjoy the genre of music
that is being presented in my magazine.
This magazine represents this social group as the Rappers featured in the magazine have all gone through
the same trouble which the readers of this audience has faced. Especially for the black members of the
social group as the black teenagers of the age 15 – 18 are stereotyped in the community of London of being
ASBOS, “rowdy” and aggressive. Therefore me representing these artist in my magazine helps my readers be
able to look up to some of the famous artist in London who have gone through similar interactions that they
may be facing in life right now.
Another way I have represented my specific social group through my magazine is that the idols that are
being presented in my magazine have similar dress sense to members of the social group. This proves that
my magazine has represented my social group because my audience will have a sense of similarity and
familiarity with my magazine as they both have similar dress sense. We can how I have done this via my front
page where my artist is wearing the typical “Nike Cap” that you would generally see my social group
wearing. I have also used a similar pose for my magazine where my model is shown wearing several different
types of props I have done this because the artist are always showing of they wealth through how much
jewellery they are wearing.
I have done this to appeal to my specific social group. How this work is as people see the wealth which is
represented in the people they follow they're more likely to follow in they footsteps in becoming successful.
Also this represents my social group as my audience who follows these artists tend to portray they wealth in
a similar way.
