Former Queensland premier, Anna Bligh, confirmed as guest speaker for the 2014 NAB Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards Women’s Agenda, the digital destination for career minded women, is pleased to announce former Queensland Premier and recently appointed CEO of YWCA NSW, Anna Bligh, as special guest speaker for the 2014 NAB Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards. Following on from the sell-out success of the inaugural event in 2013, the awards luncheon will take place on Thursday 6 March at Doltone House, Darling Island wharf, Sydney. “We are delighted to have Anna Bligh attend and speak at the leadership awards,” said Women’s Agenda editor, Angela Priestley. “She epitomises the strengths and qualities that the awards recognise and celebrate – passion, determination and the ability to inspire others". Anna was the first woman to be appointed Premier of Queensland, a role she held from 2007 to 2012. Prior to entering Parliament in 1995, Anna worked in a number of community organisations, including childcare services, neighbourhood centres, women’s refuges and trade unions as well as in the Queensland Public Service. Anna was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2013, for which she underwent treatment and has now received the medical all-clear. In 2014 Anna has embarked on an exciting new challenge as CEO of YWCA NSW – a not for profit organisation that supports 30,000 disadvantaged and vulnerable people in NSW each year. “Anna Bligh is a woman that many Australians, regardless of which side of politics they support, can admire for her drive and dignity. Her story is undoubtedly inspiring and we look forward to having her share it with our guests at the awards event”, said Priestley.
