classe di quinta elementare per poter lavorare sul
past simple.
La scelta di utilizzare una favola è stata fatta per
coinvolgere e rendere più piacevole il lavoro ai
bambini.

2. The Princess and the Pea
Once upon a time there was a
prince who felt lonely and so he
wanted to marry a princess.
He travelled all over the world
to find one, but nowhere he
could get what he wanted so he
came back home sad and
hopeless.
One evening a terrible storm
came on, suddenly a
knocking was heard at the
city gate, and the old king
went to open it.
There was a princess
standing out there in front of
the gate. But she looked so
miserable! Her hair, her
clothes and her shoes were
completely wet because of
the rain and also she said
that she was a real princess.
3. The queen couldn’t believe it, so she
tested her: went into the bedroom, and
put a pea under the mattress; then she
took twenty mattresses and laid them
on the pea, and then twenty eider-down
beds on top of the mattresses, after
that she invited the princess to sleep
on this all night…
In the morning she asked her
how she had slept.
"Oh, very badly!" answered
the princess . "I have scarcely
closed my eyes all night. I
don’t know what was in the
bed, but I was lying on
something hard, so that I am
black and blue all over my
body. It's horrible!"
4. The queen was surprised.
Now she knew that she was a real
princess because she had felt the
pea right through the twenty
mattresses and the twenty eiderdown beds.
Nobody but a real princess could
be as sensitive as that.
So the prince took her for his
wife, now he was happy that he
had a real princess and he
didn’t feel alone yet; the pea
was put in the museum.
