The situation of children worldwide
According to UNICEF:
- In 2015, 56 million children worldwide will be
  out of school
- In Asia Pacific, 32 million children are not in
  primary school
- 120 million children under the age of 15 years
are working. They account for close to 19
percent of the 650 million children between
the ages of five and 14 in the region.
8 October 2010 8
In the Philippines
- 1.7million Filipino children in the 7-12 age
  bracket are out of school
- Out of every 100 Filipino school children
enrolled each year 66 will complete
elementary education and 42 will graduate
high school. Only 14 will go on to earn a
  college degree.
- Nearly half of all Filipino children, or 12.8
million of those under 15, were living in
  poverty in 2006

Millennium Development Goals
                    (MDGs)
In 2000, the world leaders gathered at the
Millennium Summit in New York and agreed
on eight Millennium Development Goals. All
of these goals impact upon children.

Although the Goals are for all humankind, they
  are primarily about children. Why?

Millennium Development Goals
                    (MDGs)

Why?
1. Because six of the eight goals relate directly to children.
Meeting the last two will also make critical improvements in
   their lives.
2. Because meeting the Goals is most critical for children.
Children are most vulnerable when people lack essentials like
food, water, sanitation and health care. They are the first to
die when basic needs are not met.
3. Because children have rights. Each child is born with the right
to survival, food and nutrition, health and shelter, an
education, and to participation, equality and protection.
4. Because reducing poverty starts with children. Helping
children reach their full potential is also investing in the very
   progress of humanity.
8 October 2010 12
What we do?

Every opening of the school year, we
provide school packs consisting of school
bag, school supplies, uniform, a pair of
shoes. This cost about HK$ 500 per child
     per year.

                                                     contest, etc.
