Media and Education Media and Education- How children develop through new technology now and in the future?”
Introduction The world of Education and Technology The future is predictable as there will be furtherer developments. Technology has changed the world the way we receive and communicate. Technology will teach the education sector by preparing more academics for children. However, there are already progressions of this through Virtual World. Students from Universities have already participated into lectures learning from home and having online lectures. This predicts the future of technology will bring more to the world. Children develop through the use of playing games Xbox, Nintendo and communicating through Bebo, Facebook, twitter and many more. We are challenged through everyday use from different media. Therefore, we can suggest that there will be a bright future for us and the next generations. “Thus developments in new technology play an increasingly significant role, marking high status activities, mediating valued identities, and facilitating the integration or interpenetration of leisure and work, education and entertainment, community and home.” Livingstone, Sonia (2002)
Children Developing New Media Children using high-tech technology's. How children have improved there ability to learn. Children become more independent to do work and feel that they can become independent. In, my opinion I think that technology has a great impact on the younger generation because they learn more through using the internet. Advanced phones such as, the ipone takes you straight to the web and the communications skills become vast. However, technology plays a huge part in everyone's life through communication. When we look back at o.1 media there is a big difference 0.2 media has developed.
Education Education and learning has improved throughout the years as technology has improved. We see that we can do more now than ever. However, we see new technology will evolve in the future and there will be more advanced new media forms. Can technology such as the internet, computer games help a child with developing an educational understanding. By researching I found many positive links to education and technologies. Referring to media & futures modules we have been part of a virtual world studying from second life this jus proves how advanced technology is and there will be more to come in the future. We can learn more from an online source and yet gain the knowledge to become academically reliable. According To Sutch “In supporting positive outcomes for children and young people, teachers' have a special interest in the future. Their pupils’ lives will unfold over coming decades of change and teachers must support them in becoming prepared to live and shape the world outside of the classroom. As society and technologies change, so the image of education is reshaped to prepare people for new ways of working and living in the 21st century and teachers’ own practice will necessarily change to take account of this.” Sutch, Dan (2010)
What Does the Future Hold? According to Smith As our technologies become more powerful and common in our homes, schools, and hospitals, we believe children will increasingly learn and play in a social context thanks to technology. In the past, computer critics have seen technology as offering an isolating learning and social experience for children. We believe in a very different future: a future where children, teachers and parents will all have the opportunity to learn, work, and play together, because of technology. Cultural exchanges, team building, and collaborative creative expression are among the many opportunities that new technologies can offer our children in the future. Smith, David (1997)
Children have developed through technology and have the ability to make contact socially, and become vast in what they are capable of doing. The research suggests that “computer use can contribute to a child's self-perception and affect a child's socialization in a variety of ways in school and at home. In the school environment, shared computers often have been found to lead to group interaction and cooperation rather than social isolation. Young children's social interactions in a computer centre were found to resemble their interactions in other play areas, and various studies have shown that computers can facilitate social interaction and cooperation, friendship formation, and constructive group play”. Wartella, Ellen (2000)
Virtual Education is Hitting The Mainstream Virtual World is a good example how we as a student did a module online. This had given us great opportunity to be a part of second life. However, we had completed a lot of work during this module learning through our own comfort zone. If we can do this through technology I believe that the future will bring more to the classrooms and children will begin to become more advanced. Because of technology there are endless opportunities for all of us. We have the opportunity to become more According to Guardian, “Virtual education is on the march around the world, and educators are increasingly finding that students more actively participate in classroom exercises when they're conducted interactive virtual technology. Even organizations with no connection to educational organizations have begun using virtual worlds to teach job skills and home the next generation of tech workers.” Guardian (2010) “research has shown that kids engage deeply in virtual environments, gaining a conceptual and ethical understanding of school subjects, according to education experts. And many kids are already comfortable socializing online, so educationally oriented virtual worlds can offer that same sort of stimulus and use that potential to aid learning. There's one big caveat, however: Virtual worlds must have knowledgeable and motivated teachers driving the train.” Olsen, Stefanie (2006)

Conclusion Overall, this just proves to us that the world of technology will change and the educational system will change as well. However, we can predict how the future will become. Therefore, our communication will change through the different media produced.
