Equally, the increasing ubiquity of the Internet has been accompanied by cybercrime, spam and breaches of privacy. Many national governments together with some international institutions believe the Internet needs greater government regulation and oversight to supplant current multi stakeholder structures. This session will assess the various positions about how global Internet governance should evolve. Thiago Turchetti Maia President at Minas Gerais Software Foundation (Fumsoft) and Partner at Vetta Business Technology 11 12

This session examines how greater openness, transparency and collaboration can reduce cyber threats, highlighting best practices as well as sound policies and regulations -when needed- that ensure the Internet remains healthy and trustworthy. Panelists will also address how cyber security will need to become like the human immune system—isolating and attacking intruders even before knowing their identity or source. However, few in-depths studies on how best to develop comprehensive methodologies on the measurement of this sector have been developed. This session will explore the best strategies not only to fill this gap on the national level, but explore the process of harmonizing various initiatives, so that comprehensive data can be compared globally in the future. 13 de novembro de 2013 – 14:00-15:30 November 13th, 2013 – 14:00-15:30 Session 8 – Sessão 8 Measuring the IT Industry Globally Dimensionando o setor de TI globalmente Mr. Bernd Friedrich Head of "Information and Communication Technologies for Development" German Society for International Cooperation Germany Mr Friedrich is an expert on ICT and information society policy development, ICT strategy management, IT governance, programme and project management, electronic government, system analysis and design, institutional development, and business process management—with more than 25 years of long-term professional experience in 7 countries on 4 continents.
