Robert Geneid was born in 1954 in Sydney, Australia. He studied civil engineering at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering. He later returned to university and graduated with a law degree in the 1980s. Geneid had a successful career as a partner at a leading Australian law firm, working on major projects throughout Southeast Asia. He went on to develop tourism projects in Sarawak, Malaysia, including two luxury hotels and managing Gunung Mulu National Park. Geneid currently resides in Kuching, Sarawak, where he remains active in tourism boards and enjoys hobbies like tennis and hiking.
