  • 1. Hobbs+Black Architects is pleased to announce thecompletion of its services for the City Creek redevelopmentproject, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Hobbs+Black wasretained as the Architect of Record for the retail center andluxury apartments at City Creek. The retail center held itsGrand Opening ceremonies on March 22, 2012. This mixed-use center contains nearly 100 stores and restaurantscovering 700,000 square feet of retail space, as well asoffices and luxury apartments.Developed by City Creek Reserve, Inc., a development arm ofthe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS Church),in collaboration with Taubman Centers of Bloomfield Hills,Michigan; City Creek Center is the retail centerpiece of thedevelopment. It is distinguished by a recreated creek andwaterfalls, two restored historic facades, and fully retractableskylights that cover the shopping center in inclementweather. The project was awarded LEED Silver certificationfor Neighborhood Development.
