In the late 60’s and early 70’s, Walter Misner of Stanford University conducted a study called “The Marshmallow Experiment” to measure the effects of delayed gratification. His results found that children who were able to delay gratification were “significantly more competent” adolescents. Technology has evolved in a singular direction of maximizing speed, efficiency & multitasking, often promoting instant gratification over delayed gratification.
