This document provides a summary of various math concepts including:
- Square numbers are numbers multiplied by themselves, like 3 squared is 9. Prime numbers can only be divided by 1 and themselves.
- Angles in shapes add up to specific totals, like 180 degrees in a triangle and 360 degrees around a point.
- Averages in math include the mean, median and mode which describe data sets.
- Units of measurement are provided for conversions between miles to kilometers and pounds to kilograms.
- Algebra concepts like solving equations for unknown variables are explained. Finding percentages involves dividing numbers by 100, 50, 10 or their multiples.
1. To square a number, times it by itself. A prime number is a number you can only divide
e.g. 3² = 3 x 3 = 9 by itself and one. e.g. 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19...
Square numbers
Prime numbers
Square numbers are 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36 ... In a triangle add up to 180°
On a straight line add up to 180°
Biggest value - smallest value
Range
Around a point add up to 360°
Put them in order, Angles
find the middle value
Median In any four-sided shape add up to 360°
The most common value Averages
Mode
½ = 0.5 = 50%
Add them up then divide by ¼ = 0.25 = 25%
Mean
how many values there are. 10T Maths Exam Fractions, percentages and decimals
1/10 = 0.1 = 10%

Rectangles
⅕ = 0.2 = 20%
Area = length x width 1 mile = 1½ kilometres
Perimeter = distance around the outside 1 litre = 1000 millilitres
add up the lengths of the 4 sides
Units 1 kilogram = 1000 grams
1 kilometre = 1000 metres
3x = 15 means 3 times x is 15 so x = 5
Algebra
1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds
2a + 3b + 4a + 2b = 6a + 5b
To find 50% just half the number
20% is 2 lots of 10%
A multiple of a number is one Finding percentages To find 10% divide the number by 10
in that times table. e.g. 10, 5% is half of 10%
15, 20... are all multiples of Multiples and factors
5
A factor is a number you can
divide another number by.
Example, 1, 2, 5 & 10 are all
factors of 10
