2. Notes
There are some nice medium close ups of the bride getting her makeup done.
Nice pan from the bottom to the top of the dress, allowing the audience to see
the full size of it.
Memorabilia of the boyfriend/husband/fiancee shown in small clips that flow
with the music.
The music appears to be a cover, could be her singing it?
Tank shown at the end and the flags at the end show patriotism and how he
died for his country.
Shows that a lot of families are stripped from their loved ones and that war
isn’t far, regardless of how big or small it is and who is involved.
3. Notes
Quite a short, short film. – Running time 3:47. This is in comparison to the
other short films I have looked at.
Character appears to look rather young. She has braces and young looking
features. This could be down to the actor they used.
Medium close ups used to present the interaction if the beautician and the
actress. They are talking and smiling which shows it’s a happy time. This
makes the audience think that it’s a happy day and nothing seems to be wrong.
Close ups and medium close ups used to show her outfit being assembled.
Also captures her facial expression. Captures her hair, dress and other body
features.
The ring shows she was engaged. To the audience she is still engaged because
they don’t know the whole story.
In the pictures he is wearing an army uniform.
4. Notes
Unfocussed shot of her entering the car
At the graveyard the camera pans to the right in a central frame eventually
zooming in to his gravestone and remembrance wall.
The camera follows the bride to a tree as she gathers flowers then coming
from a high angled shot to a mid angled shot, it moves with her towards the
gravestone.
Floor angle, panning to the right. Unfocussed with grass in central frame to it
focusses and shows the rest of the graveyard. It’s unclear of what it could be
but I believe it is showing the rest of the graveyard and this has conations of
that she isn’t the only one who has lost someone dear to them because of war.
5. Notes
I chose this short film because it was similar with how it represents people who
have been affected by war. This is either from being present during war or the loss
of towns and villages from surrounding war or from losing someone you love.
In our short film we don’t have access to go walk around a general cemetery let
alone a war cemetery, so that’s out of the question. The short film we have thought
of is about a man suffering from like a mental illness that was caused from being
in the army/war.
The story unravels and shows that he has lost his wife too. This could be presented
like this short film. A lot of pictures of him and his wife, holding her wedding band
and crying…etc. Near the end he hears his wife’s name and he turns around and its
his nurse and he’s just having one of his ‘episodes’ where he has flashbacks of war
and how it has destroyed him.
It’s unclear if his wife was taken because of war and this resulted in him becoming
the way he is or it could be a contributing factor and his mental state is from being
present in a lot of wars and seeing things he cant un-see for many of years.
