Editor's Notes
Use simple graphical information that only pertain to what you are talking about and what you are trying to present.
Do not allow slides to become cluttered with too much text or graphics, the less text and pictures, or logos, creates a more meaningful presentation.
Having too many bullet points or text can cause the presenter to read directly from the slide. Limiting the text allows the presenter to go off and talk naturally about their topic.
The less text, the more interested the audience becomes because they want to know what you are going to talk about.
Transitions and animations should not be on every slide, you should only use transitions between some of slides, if used. If there are animations on every slide, the audience tends to look for them on the next slides. If transitions are used, there should be no more than three different ones throughout.
Never just stretch a low resolution photo to make it simply fit, always look for the best high quality photos to use. Often use photos of people in presentation because it allows audience to feel more engaged.
Have an overall theme, but download new presentation templates online because the Microsoft ones are overused and seen too much. Use unique presentation templates to create a more meaningful presentation.
Always include just the right about of information that pertains to charts. If there is too much information, the audience can become lost and confused to what the point is. The use of the appropriate chart is also key for the importance of the information to how it should be presented. Also tables are not always the best way to show information, you may rather want to put it into a bar chart instead.
Because color is very emotional, it should be chosen wisely and should help motivate and persuade the audience. Use warm and cold colors for different parts of the presentation whether it be foreground or background.
Fonts should be the same throughout the presentation and choose a font that best goes with the presentation. Some fonts were chosen to make a paper look fuller and some were chosen for presentations and to make a point. The text should be readable from every part of the room.
Using video clips or audio clips keeps the audience engaged and allows them to learn more about the topic. They should always be professional and never include cheesy sounds or unnecessary parts.
Slides should always be sorted together according to each topic. Slide sorter allows the presentation to be presented in segments and creates a more natural flow.
