FUNDS: Please pay your sunshine dues to Shelley McClain as soon as
possible. This money is used throughout the year to assist in showers,
special recognitions, flowers, and other special events for the faculty of our
school. Our campus is small, so we depend on donations from everyone.
Please submit dues as soon as you can.
(Cash or check made out to McKenzie Elementary.)
Professional Dues: $20.00 and Para, Interns, and part time employees:
$10.00
Sunshine will now be a ROTATING committee. Each section has been
divided up and all faculty will be on the committee serving on one of the
groups. Each year the groups will rotate to another section.
Flowers ($35.00 limit) in event of death: spouse, parent, grandparent, in-
laws, sibling, or child Sent to: All faculty including: custodial & cafeteria
personnel
Shelley McClain will let the group know, flowers will be ordered and billed to
McKenzie
Card, Flowers, Contributions, or Care Baskets (depends on situation):
($35limit for flowers) Provided in the event of serious illness, confinement,
hospital stay, & new babies (including employee, spouse, parent, in-laws,
or child). Shelley will let this group know if someone has a need and your
group will order the flowers or collect contributions if needed. If a care basket
is needed then you will be in charge of getting the information out and putting
this together.
Showers: Showers are provided for FIRST babies, weddings, and
retirements. If an individual in your grade level is getting married, having a
baby, or retiring, it is the responsibility of your grade level to let the shower
committee know and help choose a date for the shower. The grade level will
be responsible for making and hanging up the invitations. The Sunshine
Shower group will provide the refreshments, paper goods, and cake. (Be sure
to schedule the day and time with the office and Mrs. Coldwell.) Submit your
receipts to Shelley McClain for reimbursement up to $60 for baby and
wedding showers and up to $80.00 for retirements.
*Committees would be set up to help in coordinating retirement parties and
collecting donations for a faculty gift.

Secret Pal’s (Optional): Secret Pal names will be exchanged in the
FALL and SPRING. We will have pals for Halloween, Christmas,
for the fall and Valentines and Easter for the spring. New names
will be drawn for each time! You can choose to participate in one or
all four secret pal opportunities. Names will be drawn 3 weeks in
advance and you will give your pal 2 – 3 small gifts a week. (Under
$5.00... The final gift should be a little bigger… such as $7-10.00)
On the final reveal we will either meet in the library to reveal our pal
or sign the final note with who it is from. The committee will decide
this. Please remember to write your pal a thank you note each time!
You can tape it up by the mail boxes in the office work room.
Special Recognition Days: Gift cards to show our appreciation for
principals’, secretary’s, counselor’s, librarian’s, nurse’s, speech,
and diagnostician’s days. ($25 for each Principal and $20 for all
others.) In addition, grade levels or individuals may choose to do
something special for these days. For example, you could have your
class write cards or draw pictures to express their thanks. ALL
STAFF is recognized each May for TEACHER/STAFF
APPRECIATION week!
POPS (Power of positive staff): Two separate POPS committees
will be assigned. One for the fall and one for the spring. The
committee will have 3 activities to plan for their semester. It will be
after school and can be games, build your own sundae, scavenger
hunt, etc. (If you need ideas, I have some that I can share, or you can
research some ideas with other friends from other schools)

Spread Days: Each month we will have a special eat day. This will
usually be around Pay day. Assigned groups are responsible for
planning their luncheon. You can do a sign up sheet for people to
bring items or opt for doing a “take out” in which you organize and
have order forms for the staff to order out with several choices and
price ranges. *Teams are responsible for making sure the lounge is
clean and picked up at the end of the day. You will be given a sheet
to turn in to the office so we know what your grade level/group will
be doing! PLEASE DO NOT WAIT until the LAST minute to
organize your eat day! See schedule below:

Christmas Party will be after school towards the beginning of
December at Aimee’s house! Sunshine will provide drinks and
paper goods! Each grade level will bring an appetizer or dessert!
We will assign this closer to the time! :0)
*We will do a toy exchange for the Santa Cop toy drive if you want to
participate & it does go to a good cause! AND optional ornament
exchange for those who want to participate in that as well!
*More details will follow closer to Christmas!
