  • I am going to give you a short presentation about the background of CDM2007.org, what it does, and how it can help you meet your competency requirements both now and in the future.
  • On 6 th April 2008 tow events coincide – the introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter Bill and the expiry of the one year period of grace for organisations involved in any construction projects to demonstrate that their staff are competent to Coordinator level. By that date your organisation must be able to prove that as a Duty Holder you are competent to manager construction projects.
  • Background about the contact by Bromley CE in early 07 to all Councils in the UK – led to the development and launch of the website in May 07. Award in October 07 Nominated for HSE award in March 08.
  • This slide shows a few of the many benefits for staff of community members who are undergoing CDM-C competence training online Anywhere anytime No need to travel to far away classrooms Triple delivery method forming the fabric for competence testing – you can rerun / retake as many times as you like Content scrutinised by HSE Around 30 hours for the average student to achieve competence at CDM-C level
  • Every module tested - no progression until the previous set completed satisfactorily - Set of randomly generated questions from database of 100 – no test SHOULD be the same – need pass rate of about 85% - 7 questions at the end of every module Retake test as many times as you need to until you pass - self-explanatory Revisit the site material as often as you like - Very useful as a reference library of student notes etc Inclusive online management of students taking the training - Management can monitor how well or how badly students are doing and step in if there are problems Accreditation for your organisation and inclusion on the community register - When competence training has been achieved
  • Developed by a Borough Council - stability of supply - You can’t get a better supplier – stable and know the problems Help line included in the service - ENGLISH speaking helpline! Continuous updating / enhancement of the training and a forum for members - This is a community – we want to offer members the chance to contribute and we are building a forum on the website with HSE involvement : we are introducing modules for designers, highways, architects etc etc – refresher training (6 hours CPD) and so on Cheaper than comparable classroom training - What can I say? And - most important of all - we listen to our members - The site was developed to meet a need which is constantly evolving
  • Just some of the clients already using the website

    • COST!

    • Costs are based on

    • the more you order the cheaper it gets
  • www.cdm2007.org
    • e.g. Complete 30 hr Coordinator training

  • what they say about us ..... TfL
    • “ www.cdm2007.org is a great idea, raising awareness of Health and Safety issues within the construction industry and getting the message over” says Keith Harwood, H&S Manager for London Streets at TfL....
    • “ Our students who are taking the CDM2007 Coordinator competence training find the course material and 24x7 availability online is a great advantage. We see many people coming to us at interview for CDM Coordinator-level posts who really haven’t even got the basics in place - www.cdm2007.org can change that which will be to our benefit and also to every other organisation carrying out construction projects”.
    • The governed competence training offered by www.cdm2007.org gives TfL the confidence of knowing that staff can demonstrate that they have met minimum standard HSE CDM2007 requirements, with the ability for TfL Senior Management to check on student progress at any time and for every stage of their training.
  • what they say about us ..... Mouchel
    • Peter Symondson, CDMC and business service director Hertfordshire, Mouchel Group, consultants to Hertfordshire County Council Highways Maintenance Dept (Hertfordshire Highways), said:
    • "I was enthusiastic about CDM2007.org from the first time that I saw it, and I have been extremely impressed with it as we have rolled it out for Hertfordshire Council. Initially, we bought the product for our own design team, and over time we integrated it with the Council's Property and Highways Maintenance teams, so that we would have a consistent approach to training.
    • Because it is online, it depends on the individual to use it. In order to help this happen, we created a learning environment, providing a CDM co-ordinator to deliver a weekly facilitated training session and give a demonstration of the first module to get the trainees up and running. This collaborative approach increased take-up of the training from about 10% to nearly 90%. We are now collectively enthusiastic about CDM2007.org, it is the most appropriate training course available both in terms of its cost effectiveness and flexibility of approach and it has become a standard competency tool for us."
