1. Ekaterina Tudegesheva –
the pride of Kuzbass, the hope of Russia
Ekaterina Tudegesheva –
a Russian snowboarder serving the parallel giant slalom,
parallel slalom and snowboard cross, Honored Master of Sports.
A member of the Olympic team of Russia on a snowboard, a
winner of the World Cup and Minor Cup of 2010-2011 season, a
multiple champion of Russia on a snowboard.
2. Ekaterina Tudegesheva –
a
pupil
of
the
ski
school
Tashtagol in Kuzbass. Due to its
geographical location in the
foothills
of
Tashtagol
the
Altai,
ski
the
school
successfully prepares athletes
for many winter sports.
The
sports
development
like
of
such
snowboarding
began in Kuzbass in 1997.
3. Being a second-form school girl,
Tudegesheva Katya began to go in
for Alpine skiing and did it until 11
years old.
Her athletic achievements and
strong-willed character attracted
attention, and in 1999 she began
her career in snowboarding.
4. Her
first
international
competition was FIS racing
which took place January 6,
2003.
A week later, she took part
in the World Cup, where she was
the 16th in the snowboard cross.
A month later, she was
already the 8-th in this
discipline at the World Junior
Championship and then became
the 3-d in the parallel slalom
national championship.
5. At the World Junior Championships in 2006
Tudegesheva won the parallel giant slalom
and was the 5-th at the 2006 Winter Olympics.
In the following season, during a week
she won the second prize at the World Cup
parallel giant slalom and in the parallel slalom as well.
The same year, participating in the World Cup, Ekaterina won
the parallel giant slalom and became the first Russian woman who
won the world championship in snowboarding. A month later, she
became the 2-nd in the World Junior Championship.
In early 2009 she was the 3-d at the
World Cup in parallel slalom and the 5-th
in the parallel giant slalom.
In 2010-2011 she won the World Cup
overall standings and the Minor World Cup.
6. Ekaterina Tudegesheva is the pride of
Kuzbass, her sports achievements have
given impetus to the development of
skiing in Russia. A lot of ski schools began
to open up in different regions, new ski
slopes are being built, and many children
choose skiing and snowboarding. Thanks
to Ekaterina, Russia went international in
winter sports.
In 2007 Ekaterina was awarded the
Order of "Valor of Kuzbass"
as the first world champion in the history
of snowboarding in Russian and Kuzbass
sport.
7. Now Ekaterina is a member of the Russian women's
national snowboarding team. She will have to defend
the world title at the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014.
