Arizona Economy
1. The Arizona Economy
Factors that help support the economy in Arizona are the manufacturing and tourism. Major parts
of the economy’s value are manufactured goods, such as; clothes, aircraft parts, jewelry, air
conditions, electronic appliances, chemical ingredients, and even radios. The economy in Arizona is
highly supported by its seasonal snow birds from all corners of the globe. Stretching from India,
Mexico, Canada, Sweden, Norway, and Greenland. The valley of the sun has had a surplus of 10
million people come from everywhere. The majority of the people come from Canada. However,
there are other countries that people come from just to visit Arizona. For this reason, Arizona’s
airports are huge and provide great help within the economy. Currently, there are about 80 projects
for Sky Harbor Airport. These projects are costing 600 billion dollars. Essentially, the growing
amount of snow birds from year to year are
creating a new population boom each year for
Arizona. Because of the growing population
of visitors and the increase in growth to
improve their stays; tourism and hospitality
services have accounted for 77% of jobs.
Included in the massive growth are major
bank headquarters such as, Bank of America,
Chase, American express, and Discover card.
Aerospace and technological jobs have
accounted for almost 56% of the jobs in
Phoenix.
2. Arizona also has two outstanding colleges; ASU, and U of A. ASU is ranked 129 in all the
United States and U of A is ranked 121. Each school is special for their own reasons but they have
one thing in common, football. Each school has record breaking football programs. They both have
been playoff contenders.
Arizona is also known for its massive amounts of grants from NASA, to explore. Both U of
A and ASU have better space programs than any other colleges nationally. In fact, U of A was given
325 million dollars to help the exploration of Mars in 2008. U of A’s lab made and controlled the
atmospheric radiation investigations and imaging on an orbiting probe. They currently still have 5
missions in learning more about mars. Including, a satellite orbiting both mars and mercury. The
program landed a probe on Mars, and even had the first successful mission to return from an
asteroid.
ASU has its reputation for being the best college for startup businesses through research. Its
programs have gotten over 200 million dollars for financial aid because 55 businesses were created
from ASU students. Like U of A ASU is in the NASA program.
