In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real products?
Shown below are nine key frames taken from the film ‘Se7en’. The reason I chose these particular shots were purely inspirational values. When deciding onto how to present my ideas within a digital based format this style was suitable as I feel it communicated the message effectively.
3439160194945-192405194945
This particular frame shows the subject writing in a journal. I feel this shot creates mystery as it is unclear what the subject’s intentions are. Similarly, in my film opening I have used a related shot to achieve the same effect. Therefore, in this case I feel my media product use’s the conventions of real film openings. Also low key lighting has been used in both frames to create suspense and is a typical feature of the thriller film genre.

351663041275-9525041275
Frame two shows the subjects running their finger along the edge of a photograph. This shows that there is a connection between these two subjects’s however; the motive is unclear. In my film opening I feel the motive and/or intentions are fairly highlighted as a finger is seen to be caressing the males face. On this occasion I feel that my opening could develop these conventions as it is more direct and clear.
3007995149225-453390149225
Close-up’s are used frequently in Se7en and within the thriller to add to the aesthetics and give the audience a clearer vision. Therefore; felt it was vital to incorporate this camera shot within my piece in order to convey the genre.
2665730429895
-499745106680
The above frame shows the title ‘Se7en’ which appears in a flash of light. The copy flickers on screen several times in variation of sizes. However; it was difficult to capture the title to its full effect for obvious reasons. When comparing this to that of my title I would say that I could of experimented more with effects to add to the aesthetics and to convey the mood.
3254375271780
-315595-3175
A red tint has been applied to the frame of Se7en which could connote danger, violence or passion. However; in my opening I have used a green tint to show that jealously is descending upon the subject. Often in thriller genre colours are used to symbolise moods.
A basic cut was used to indicate the transition between each shot. Reason being it created a fast pace which I felt helped to build the tension and maintained continuity. During the editing process the more elaborate transitions were considered however; when research was carried out into this I found that it may distract and even slow the pace for that reason was unsuitable.
97790267335
The above shot was taken from my film opening, Fixation. When evaluating this shot I would say that perhaps it could appear unconventional as special effects are rarely used within the psycho-thriller genre that I have experienced. Though despite I still continued as my aim is to differentiate myself from other psycho-thrillers on the market.
