Congress President and UPA chairperson attended an election rally at Roorkee, Uttarakhand on Sunday. While speaking on the occasion
she lashed out at BJP’s main face Narendra Modi. “He thinks as if results have come out and he is already sitting on the throne,” she
said.
“Narendra Modi levels baseless allegations against us on corruption; it's Congress which enacted RTI to curb corruption. It’s us which
have taken measures against corrupt leaders,” Sonia Gandhi said.
“Has BJP taken any such steps against their corrupt ministers? Why they didn't appoint Lokayukt in Gujarat for ten years, because they
wanted to hide their misdeeds. When they point fingers at someone, he should think whom his other fingers are pointed at. First they
should look at themselves,” Congress President added slamming Narendra Modi.
Sonia Gandhi also said that Narendra Modi thinks he had already become the PM. "May be he is suffering from ‘power fever’ so much
that he forgets that it’s the people to decide, not him” she mocked.
She also reminded when there was BJP govt. in Himachal Pradesh many projects and schemes were not implemented. “We sent
thousands of crore rupees to the state govt. ruled by BJP, but they didn't utilize it properly" charged the Congress President.
Sonia Gandhi also said that UPA govt. under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh has worked immensely for the welfare of the people
in last ten years.
“We worked for every sector such as roads, health, education, employment and empowerment. Country witnessed a revolutionary
change in the lives of the people,” she noted.
Mrs. Gandhi also appreciated the courage of the Uttarakhand people, and said that Uttarakhand was gone through a disastrous natural
calamity but the confidence and faith showed by the people were quite remarkable.
“I fully believe that you won’t choose the wrong path but the right one, the path of Congress,” Sonia Gandhi concluded.

This is the holy land of Saints and Sufis. This land has played a vital role to strengthen our culture. This land has echoes of our mix Indian
culture. But now some people are trying to destroy the tradition and culture of Indian society. Elections come and go. But few BJP

2. leaders are so frustrated to grab power. And they say "Ganga ji" has called them to fight elections. Instead of "Haar Haar Ganga", they
are roaming around chanting their own name. It's you to decide whether you want a govt. which gives value to our diversed culture or a
govt. which support extremism. Indian culture can’t bear any arrogant politics.
It’s you to decide whether you want a govt. which based on secular values or a govt. which spreads hatred. We need to save our
democracy from this danger. We work for the empowerment of the people and take every one forward; you have witnessed this for
many years. We want development benefits every section of the society. India developed immensely after independence and this has
not happened all of a sudden. Every citizen and Congress workers, leaders have given their sweat, blood and even their lives for the
country.
UPA govt. under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh has enacted many welfare schemes for you in last ten years. We worked for
every sector such as roads, health, education, employment and empowerment. Country witnessed a revolutionary change in the lives of
the people. We have given the rights to all sections of the society. We enacted Right to Education to ensure free education for all
children up to 14 years of age. We have launched Kisan Credit Card for farmers and waived off their loans. We also revised Land
Acquisition Law to prevent all forceful land-grabbing and also to ensure adequate compensation for the lands acquired from our poor
farmers.
We have formed a special ministry for minority affairs. Financial aid has been provided to Maulana Azad Medical College and also giving
the scholarships in large numbers. We implemented ‘One rank – One Pension scheme’ for soldiers. Apart from this we have given Rs
55,000 crore loan to SHG group. UPA has never left any stone unturned for the betterment of Uttarakhand.
When there was BJP govt. in the state many projects and schemes were not implemented. We sent thousands of crore of rupees to the
state govt. ruled by BJP, but they didn't utilize it properly.

Mr. Harish Rawat to give his special focus for your rehabilitation as he mentioned the schemes for your betterment. I want to
congratulate Mr. Rawat and you that all three doors of Gangotari, Yamanotri and Kedarnath are opened. We will keep fighting for every
section of the society.
We have implemented food security act so that every poor person will get food grains at a very low cost. To enhance further our
initiatives to help the people, our manifesto offers a right to health - to provide free medicine and treatment for the poor. We also will
ensure pension for old-aged and disabled. Many poor don’t have a strong roof above their head and they suffer in acute weather. We

3. therefore will give Right to shelter for them; we will provide strong laws for women to make them financially stable. We know our youth
need employment; we recognize their talent and will provide them scholarship and technical training and for all of this we need support.
The main face of BJP, Narendra Modi ji gives an impression that the results are out and he is sitting on the throne. May be he is suffering
from ‘power fever’ so much that he forgets that it’s the people to decide not him. But he forgets that it’s you to decide not him. I fully
believe that you won’t choose the wrong path but the right one, the path of Congress. I am sure you will make all our candidates win
with huge margins and you will give a strong and secular government to the country.
