The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road
in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults
enjoy the wonders of nature as summer approaches in Somerset County. The Environmental
Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year
around.
CHILDREN CHILD/PARENT PROGRAMS
Animal Babies
Thursday, June 4 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Children age infant to 5 with a parent will learn how
animal parents raise
animal babies through pictures, stories, crafts, and a
hike.
Fee is $10 per pair and $5 per additional child

ADULT FAMILY PROGRAMS
Shopping at Well-Sweep
Tuesday, June 2 from 8:30 A.M. to noon
Adults will enjoy a trip to Well-Sweep Herb Gardens to prepare your
Garden with selections from the large variety of plants and herbs,
many of which are not to be found at the neighborhood nursery.
Suggested donation is $25 in plants for the Environmental Education Center Garden.

Lord Stirling Park Spring Bird Count - FREE PROGRAM
Saturday, June 6 from 6:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.
Adults will have the opportunity to learn birding basics while collecting data for the Environmental

Whitewater Beginnings
Sunday, June 7 from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Kayakers age 15 and over will have an opportunity to take their skills to another level on a trip to
Class 1-11 whitewater. Prior participation in at steps taken to control air pollution least two 4-mile of
less river trips required.

Blue "BOBO (Buy One - Bring One) Fridays" bins now are located at the Environmental Education
water pollution statistics Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the
Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is
invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
