6. WORD PICTURES IN THE
POEM DREAM
The broken winged bird that cannot fly
A barren field frozen with snow
7. HOLD FAST TO DREAMS
FOR, IF DREAMS DIE
LIFE IS A BROKEN-WINGED BIRD
THAT CANNOT FLY
The first stanza compares a life without dreams to a
"broken-winged bird." A broken-winged bird's life has no
purpose, much in the same way a life without dreams has
no purpose.
8. HOLD FAST TO DREAMS
FOR, WHEN DREAMS GO
LIFE IS A BARREN FIELD
FROZEN WITH SNOW
The second stanza compares a life without dreams
to a "barren field frozen with snow." A field is
created for the purpose of providing life. A barren
field does not fulfill its purpose. A life is created to
give and provide life to others. A life without
dreams does nothing.
11. MY DREAM
How I wish to be
A good cricketer !
How I wish to be
A good batsman!
But my friends.
Find no batsman
In a boy like me.
‘Tom, today you are the opener’
Said my teacher gently
I did open batting
Smartly did I score a fifty.
12. Slogan
There is nothing like a dream to create the
future
You have to dream before your dream can
come true
