Once upon a time there was a king. He had a minister. The king's minister was
very wise. He often used to say, “Whatever happens, happens for good.”
Once the king was cleaning his sword. The minister was sitting next to him.
Suddenly the sword fell on the king's feet and one toe of his foot was cut off.
Just then the minister said, “Whatever happens, happens for good.”
Pada suatu masa dahulu ada seorang raja. Dia ada menteri. Menteri raja itu
sangat bijaksana.
kebaikan."Suatu ketika raja sedang membersihkan pedangnya.
3
The king was very angry on hearing this. He scolded the minister, “My toe
is cut off and you are saying that it has happened for good. What good is
it?” The king got angry and ordered the minister to be imprisoned in jail.
The minister did not feel any sorrow for this. While going to the jail, the
minister again said, “Whatever happens, happens for good.”
Raja sangat marah mendengarnya.
Whatever
happens,
happens for
good
4
The king was amazed to hear this. He thought to himself, “How strange my
minister is. He is going to jail and yet he is still saying “Whatever happens,
happens for good.”
Two months passed after this incident. One day the king went for hunting with
his soldiers. Riding on their horses they all went inside the dense forest.
Raja terkejut mendengarnya. Dia berfikir dalam hati, “Alangkah peliknya
menteri saya.
suatu hari raja pergi berburu bersama askarnya. Menunggang kuda mereka
semua masuk ke dalam hutan tebal.
5
The king while chasing a deer went deeper into the forest and got separated
from his soldiers. He could not catch the deer and alas the king had lost his
way. He was lost in the dense forest. When the king realized this, he started
looking for a way out of the forest. Suddenly the king was surrounded by a
group of tribal men living in that forest. These tribal men were not citizens of
the king’s kingdom. They did not recognize the king.
Lelaki
puak ini bukan warga kerajaan raja. Mereka tidak mengenali raja.
6
The tribal men captured the king and took him to their village in the forest.
Those tribal men were looking for a human whom they could kill and sacrifice
to appease their deity or god. The king began pleading to the tribal chief to
release him but the tribal chief and the tribal men did not understand the
language of the king.
Ancient Human
Sacrifice
King captured
7
They started playing drums happily. The king was brought to bathe and
then dressed in new clothes. They put a garland of flowers around the
king’s neck. Actually the king was being prepared to be sacrificed to
their deity or god.
Mereka mula bermain dram dengan gembira. Baginda dibawa mandi
dan kemudian memakai pakaian baru. Mereka meletakkan kalungan
bunga di leher raja. Sebenarnya raja sedang disediakan untuk
dikorbankan kepada dewa atau tuhan mereka.
8
Just when they were about to kill the king, the head of the tribe saw that
one toe from one of the king's feet had been cut off. Seeing this the tribal
chief ordered all the drums to be stopped and said, “This man cannot be
sacrificed to our god because he is incomplete. If an incomplete human is
sacrificed, the deity will become angry.
So they decided to set free the king.
9
The king happily returned to his palace. At the palace he thought to himself,
“If the one toe of my foot had not been cut off, then those tribal men would
have killed me. My minister was right - whatever happens, happens for good.”
The king ordered the soldiers to get the minister out of the jail. He gave him back his
minister's position and said, “Minister, my toe was cut off and you told me that this
happened for my good.”
10
“I have understood this now”, the king continued. “ The cutting of my toe happened
for my good. But tell me minister. Two months you had to suffer so much in jail.
Yet you accepted this so well, saying :Whatever happens, happens for good.”
The minister smiled and said, “my Lord, I was your minister and I used to be always
with you. Had I not been in jail, then I would have been with you that day. The tribal
men let you go free after seeing your foot had a missing toe.”
"Saya telah memahami ini sekarang", raja menyambung. “Pemotongan jari
kaki saya berlaku untuk kebaikan saya. Tetapi beritahu saya menteri. Dua
bulan awak terpaksa menderita begitu banyak di penjara. Namun anda
membebaskan kamu selepas melihat kaki kamu hilang jari kaki.”
11
“But Lord,” the minister continued, “after seeing your toe was missing, the
tribal men would have turned to me. My body was complete and if I was
with you, they would have definitely sacrificed me to their god. That’s why
it was good that I was not with you that day. I was in jail and this saved my
life. Your missing toe saved your life. So you see my Lord, “Whatever
happens, happens for good.”
Jari kaki anda
yang hilang menyelamatkan nyawa anda. Jadi anda melihat raja ku, "Apa
sahaja yang berlaku, berlaku untuk kebaikan."

Wise Minister's Words

  • 1. 1
  • 2. 2 Once upon a time there was a king. He had a minister. The king's minister was very wise. He often used to say, “Whatever happens, happens for good.” Once the king was cleaning his sword. The minister was sitting next to him. Suddenly the sword fell on the king's feet and one toe of his foot was cut off. Just then the minister said, “Whatever happens, happens for good.”
  • 3. 3 The king was very angry on hearing this. He scolded the minister, “My toe is cut off and you are saying that it has happened for good. What good is it?” The king got angry and ordered the minister to be imprisoned in jail. The minister did not feel any sorrow for this. While going to the jail, the minister again said, “Whatever happens, happens for good.” Raja sangat marah mendengarnya. Whatever happens, happens for good
  • 4. 4 The king was amazed to hear this. He thought to himself, “How strange my minister is. He is going to jail and yet he is still saying “Whatever happens, happens for good.” Two months passed after this incident. One day the king went for hunting with his soldiers. Riding on their horses they all went inside the dense forest. Raja terkejut mendengarnya.
  • 5. 5 The king while chasing a deer went deeper into the forest and got separated from his soldiers. He could not catch the deer and alas the king had lost his way. He was lost in the dense forest. When the king realized this, he started looking for a way out of the forest. Suddenly the king was surrounded by a group of tribal men living in that forest. These tribal men were not citizens of the king’s kingdom. They did not recognize the king.
  • 6. 6 The tribal men captured the king and took him to their village in the forest. Those tribal men were looking for a human whom they could kill and sacrifice to appease their deity or god. The king began pleading to the tribal chief to release him but the tribal chief and the tribal men did not understand the language of the king. Ancient Human Sacrifice King captured
  • 7. 7 They started playing drums happily. The king was brought to bathe and then dressed in new clothes. They put a garland of flowers around the king’s neck. Actually the king was being prepared to be sacrificed to their deity or god.
  • 8. 8 Just when they were about to kill the king, the head of the tribe saw that one toe from one of the king's feet had been cut off. Seeing this the tribal chief ordered all the drums to be stopped and said, “This man cannot be sacrificed to our god because he is incomplete. If an incomplete human is sacrificed, the deity will become angry. So they decided to set free the king.
  • 9. 9 The king happily returned to his palace. At the palace he thought to himself, “If the one toe of my foot had not been cut off, then those tribal men would have killed me. My minister was right - whatever happens, happens for good.” The king ordered the soldiers to get the minister out of the jail. He gave him back his minister's position and said, “Minister, my toe was cut off and you told me that this happened for my good.”
  • 10. 10 “I have understood this now”, the king continued. “ The cutting of my toe happened for my good. But tell me minister. Two months you had to suffer so much in jail. Yet you accepted this so well, saying :Whatever happens, happens for good.” The minister smiled and said, “my Lord, I was your minister and I used to be always with you. Had I not been in jail, then I would have been with you that day. The tribal men let you go free after seeing your foot had a missing toe.” "Saya telah memahami ini sekarang", raja menyambung. “Pemotongan jari kaki saya berlaku untuk kebaikan saya. Tetapi beritahu saya menteri.
  • 11. 11 “But Lord,” the minister continued, “after seeing your toe was missing, the tribal men would have turned to me. My body was complete and if I was with you, they would have definitely sacrificed me to their god. That’s why it was good that I was not with you that day. I was in jail and this saved my life. Your missing toe saved your life. So you see my Lord, “Whatever happens, happens for good.”
