we should not kill or harm others.

First Precept: No Killing
I will act for the welfare and happiness of all beings.
I will cultivate Loving-kindness and Compassion for all living beings
The Kamma-Vipaka (Intentional Actions and Results)
One who breaks the 1st Precept will meet with Dukkha (Suffering), Sorrow,
Pain and Grief in this life and future lives where he is likely to be reborn into
woeful states ( The woeful states are Hell, The Animal Realm and The Ghost
Realm). If he is reborn into the Human Realm, he has a short life. The
torturer of another being faces grave sicknesses in future lives.

Second Precept: No Stealing or
Taking What is not Given
All people would not be happy if others steal or rob from them. They will
feel pain and sorrow. This includes us. So we must refrain from taking from
others things that do not belong to us.
I undertake the precept to refrain from stealing or
taking what is not given to me.
Breaking The Second Precept - Examples
Stealing or
Robbing Shoplifting Cheating
6. 6
2nd Precept: No Stealing or Taking What is Not Given
The Kamma-Vipaka (Intentional Actions and Results)
One who breaks the 2nd Precept will meet with Dukkha (Suffering), Sorrow,
Pain and Grief in this life and future lives where he is likely to be reborn into
woeful states ( The woeful states are Hell, The Animal Realm and The Ghost
Realm). If he is reborn into the Human Realm, he experiences poverty and
has much hardship. He encounters situations where people cheat him
or steal from him.
Positive Affirmations and Aspirations to make
I will be honest, generous, and take delight
in giving and sharing.
7. 7
I undertake the precept to refrain from
sexual misconduct.
Third Precept: No Sexual Misconduct
Examples of Sexual Misconduct are Adultery and Rape. One who commits
adultery causes disharmony of the family. If a divorce results both the parents
and children suffer. The family reputation is tarnished.
Breaking The Third Precept - Examples
8. 8
Third Precept: No Sexual Misconduct
I will be honest and sincere in my relationship with
others, nurturing true love and compassion.
I will cut my sensual lust and practice contentment.
The Kamma-Vipaka (Intentional Actions and Results)
One who breaks the 3rd Precept will meet with Dukkha (Suffering), Sorrow,
Pain and Grief in this life and future lives where he or she is likely to be
reborn into woeful states ( The woeful states are Hell, The Animal Realm and
The Ghost Realm). If reborn into the Human Realm, he experiences
frustrations and relationship problems.
Positive Affirmations and Aspirations to make

Fourth Precept: No Lying
I undertake the precept to refrain from lying, slandering,
speaking maliciously, harshly and frivolously.
Right Speech has 4 aspects: No Lying, No Slander, No Harsh Speech and No
Gossip. This would be a Noble Precept.
Right Speech aims not to hurt or harm others and cause them Dukkha just as
we too can be hurt when others use wrong speech upon us.
Breaking The Noble Fourth Precept - Examples
Lying Harsh Speech
Slander Gossip
10. 10
Fourth Precept: No Lying
And also Refraining from Slander, Harsh Speech and Gossip
The Kamma-Vipaka (Intentional Actions and Results)
One who breaks the 4rd Precept will meet with Dukkha (Suffering), Sorrow,
Pain and Grief in this life and future lives where he or she is likely to be
reborn into woeful states ( The woeful states are Hell, The Animal Realm and
The Ghost Realm). If reborn into the Human Realm, he experiences being
lied to, verbal abuses, being victims of idle gossip.
Positive Affirmations and Aspirations to make
I will speak the truth, promote concord and friendship,
speak kindly, gently and beneficially.
11. 11
Fifth Precept: No Intoxicants
I undertake the precept to refrain
from taking alcohol and drugs which
are harmful to the mind and body.
The dangers of intoxicants like liquor and drugs are truly great – they harm
the body and mind. One who indulges in such things can easily get addicted.
When he becomes intoxicated, he loses his clarity of mind and mindfulness.
He can then break the other four precepts.
Breaking The Fifth Precept - Examples
12. 12
Fifth Precept: No Intoxicants
I will strive to keep my mind pure, clear, alert,
mindful, and unconfused.
The Kamma-Vipaka (Intentional Actions and Results)
When a person gets intoxicated with liquor or drugs,
he loses his mindfulness – there is then a break of the Fifth Precept.
Dukkha follows in this life and future lives. Constant breaking of the 5th
Precept may lead to a person being reborn as one mentally retarded or having
mental sicknesses. He is dull, lacking in intelligence and clear thinking.
Positive Affirmations and Aspirations to make
Mindful
Walking
MINDFULNESS
13. 13
I understand that these five precepts
are wonderful precepts because they
are conducive to the welfare and
happiness of both myself and others. I
undertake to keep these precepts to the
best of my ability.
14. 14
Morality
is a MUST
To have
true Peace
that will
last
Morality is the Foundation in good
Dhamma Practice.
Observe the Precepts well, your
body action and speech will tell.
