1) Siddhartha Gautama was born around 563 BC in northern India and became known as the Buddha, founding Buddhism. 2) As a prince, he lived a life of luxury but sought answers outside of this. He meditated and achieved enlightenment around age 35. 3) The Four Noble Truths are central to Buddhism, teaching that life involves suffering, desire causes suffering, suffering can be overcome through lack of desire and ignorance, and by following the Eightfold Path one can reach nirvana.
