Sling Psychrometer By: Jacob Bullard & Jason Cheatley
Measures the relative humidity (the portion of total possible water vapor that is currently in the air) in the air near the device What does it do?
If the relative humidity is higher it will feel much hotter then it actually is because your sweat cannot evaporate to cool you down. If relative humidity is low then it will feel much cooler then the actually temperature because more of your sweat will evaporate to cool you down. Why is this important?
The device has 2 thermometers, one records the actual temperature of the air. The other thermometer is covered in water and due to evaporation of the water the temperature on the thermometer will change and you base your readings off of that. How does it find relative humidity?
The wet thermometer is swung around and as it swings some of the water will evaporate. The lower the relative humidity the more water will evaporate and the more the thermometer will cool down. How does that work?
 By comparing the temperatures of the wet and dry thermometers to a chart called a psychomotor chart. How do you read one?
This is used by scientists to determine how high the relative humidity is based on the readings. This is a psychrometerchart
