Question by Sweet Dark Berry: What do you think of the small outdoor
garden table I made?
It’s the first thing I’ve ever made, so I kept it simple. It’s made out of old lumber from
some poorly constructed railings I had to tear off my deck. I figured it would be better to
use the wood than just throw it away.
http://s1104.photobucket.com/albums/h329/finallly/
It’s a decent size. The top is about 3ft by 3ft.

Maybe something grilled, like steaks, chicken or fish? Or, a nice, light pasta dish (possibly
with pesto sauce or fresh herbs) would be nice for an outdoor spring wedding.

Adelaide – Himeji Garden. Discovered purely thanks to serendipity when heading back to
pick up luggage on final morning in Adelaide after breakfast.
Question by Angel: How can I make a small garden bench?
I want to make my mom one of those small garden benches for her birthday. She saw one
4. before and she loved it. Its made of all wood with (I think) wrought iron sides and legs. Its
a very simple piece. Im not sure where or how to get the iron pieces though. I have
searched online and all I can find is the bigger benches. What Im looking for is the type of
bench that maybe children can sit on, mostly for decoration. Its about 4 feet long at most
and maybe 3 feet high? If anybody has any ideas, plans, or sites where I can copy one
from I’d really appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Sunset Big Book of Garden Design: Page 106 – 107 A Family Garden

Question by Bre: Where can you get the vegetable garden cart like on Big
Brother 11?
I love how the garden on BB11 is portable and big. Does anyone know where you can get
one or directions on how to build one?
Best answer:
Answer by TanadyJesslyn
Hi there..
these plans are for a home and garden cart wagon wheel barrow made from cheap and
available materials.
Carts of this design are well adapted for use in the home and garden. The large bicycle
tires make pulling the cart over obstructions a snap. Logs or rocks wreck havoc on
wheelbarrows because they easily tip.
This cart has a long handle for easy pulling, and an ample flat bed for whatever you’re
hauling. The handle’s length makes it easier to use the cart for dumping things. The rear
has a removable panel that is taken out when you get to where you need to be, dumping
the material is easy.
10. The frame is angle iron and boards, and the sides are plywood. We’d suggest using
marine grade wood.

Question by Donna: Does anyone have a good idea for using an old screen
door in a garden?
I like to incorporate old, or rusty, or primitive items into my gardens. I’ve found good use
for such things as old laundry tubs, a wringer washer, a clawfoot bathtub, old
wheelbarrow, etc. I am in possession of a wonderful old screen door which I would like to
use outside. Any unique ideas on how this could be done? Thank you.
Best answer:
Answer by T. Nielsen Hayden
Do you have a compost and yard waste bin? You could use the screen door as the visible
front side of one. Otherwise, just fasten it upright and use it as a trellis support for roses.

Question by scubadiver50704: Why does my garden tiller quit running after
a few minutes?
My tiller has a 6hp Tecumseh engine on it and I have had to (at times) operate it with the
choke lever in the half way detented position. This suggested a fuel delivery issue to me. I
changed the fuel line between fuel tank and carb and eliminated the filter, just as a test. I
also tweaked the carburetor settings on both main metering jet and idle screws. But it just
runs rough and then will die after 3 – 4 minutes. When it dies, there is fuel in the carb
bowel when I depress the sediment drain spring loaded device. I plan to replace the spark
plug next and then possibly remove and clean carburetor. I am suspicious of a possible
16. leaking head gasket (I can see a little black exhaust goo coming out of one side) as well as
a weakening / failing magneto and / or an issue with the valves.
Any one a good small engine service man?
Best answer:
Answer by sunpekes
Start by tightening the head bolts to eliminate the leak.
Next have the carburetor soaked out to remove the gum left by old gas, trapped by leaving
gas undrained over winter.
A new plug is wise each year. With the engine running check spark color at plug by
removing wire slowly with appropriate insulated pliers (fuse puller type) If blue it’s ok,
but if yellowish in color the mag is going down. Mag replacement is a bit difficult since it
must be properly spaced from the flywheel.
Don’t hammer on the crankshaft threads, use a puller.

Trillium and Bloodroot in bloom at Morning Sky Greenery
This is my first batch of 2009 photos from Morning Sky Greenery. Sally called to say that
the Trillium and Bloodroot were in bloom and wouldn’t last long, so I ran out and spent
about an hour shooting in the early morning. I then went back that evening to try to catch
some outdoor shots, but some clouds had come in and the light was really flat. I did get a
lot of equipment shots in the second greenhouse, however, with an emphasis on empty
pots. I probably spent half an hour on those.
After removing the obviously broken photos, I’ve divided them into two groups: The
"better" shots (in my opinion) (this set) and the rest.
Sally, et al, should go through these and identify photos that they like/think they can use.
Please also tell me when there are gaps or styles that you need and which are missing. I
tend to shoot a very particular way when left to my own devices (lots of close-ups, for
example), and if you need something else definitely speak up!
I’ve spent most of two hours moving today’s photos to the computer, filtering out the
obviously broken shots, and uploading the rest to Flickr for Sally to look at.
