What digital technologies did I use?
 iMac
 Photoshop Elements 8
 Photoshop Elements 11
 Camera (Canon DSLR)
 Internet- Search Engines, Blogspot, Slideshare,

Polldaddy and many other information websites.
 Microsoft Powerpoint and Word
 Memory Sticks
Problems which occurred
 When I used a memory stick to transfer files from

PC to iMac, the file format was automatically
changed for the iMac but not the other way
around, this did cause one of my memory sticks to
corrupt.
 To overcome this problem and prevent it
happening again, I used Google Docs to save any
work.
Photoshop
 When making my music magazine I used

elements
8 to create the magazine pages, this year to create
my ancillary I have used elements 11, this version
of Photoshop has helped me to develop my
editing skills and create a more professional
looking graphic outcome.
Resources for research
 I used

a variety of things to help me collect my
research when making the video. I used printed
hand-outs as primary resources to research things
such as semiotics and secondary resources like
past blogs.
Collecting Survey Responses
 I used social networking sites

to collect questionnaire
responses. This was very
effective as I was able to get a
variety of feedback from
people in the age group of
our target audience.
I used Polldaddy to create the
simple surveys which I posted
on Facebook for users to
answer.

Camera and Filming
 For this project I used YouTube

to influence what
filming techniques we might use for our music
genre.
 This project helped me to develop my use of
camera skills as in our AS project we only used still
photography, the filming has also allowed me to
learn how to film using different techniques and
used editing software.
Final Cut Pro X
 This software creates a very professional looking

filmed outcome.
 I have learnt how to put filters on a moving image
and how to make the change of shots look smooth
and continuous using a variety of transitions.
 The software is very complex but after some
experimenting we managed to create a successful
outcome.

  • 1. How did you use media technologies in the research and planning stages?
