2. Act one Scene one In the opening scene of Macbeth we first experience the supernaturalism that becomes a motif throughout the play. We witness the three hags conjure on Scottish heath. It is here where the witches state ‘Fair is foul and foul is fair.’
3. Act one Scene two In this scene , Macbeth and Banquo first learn of the prophecy. ‘All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Glamis. All hail Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor. All hail Macbeth, thou shalt be king here after.’ This is where Macbeth’s susceptibility to supernaturalism begins.
4. Act four Scene one This is Macbeth’s final meeting with the witches. Polanski portrays this scene differently to the traditional methods by instead of simply having three witches he instead has 50 naked women instead.
