2. Have you heard about the newest
social media craze Pinterest? Not
only is the site super addicting, but
it’s an excellent resource for
librarians.
It’s also a way to connect with your
favorite authors, publishers, libraries,
and people you know,
It’s also a way to find great craft
ideas, recipes, display ideas, and a
way to connect your library to your
community.
You follow boards you find
interesting. You repin ideas that
make you giggle, make you think, or
make your creative juices flow.
Similar to Facebook and Twitter
interactions, every time someone
comments, likes, or repins your item,
you’re making a connection for your
library.

HOW TO PIN?
8. Pinterest can be used in many ways
to help library stand out.
It’s great for discovering new
programs and showing off book
displays.
It’s great for showing off
collections and snag social media
users.
It’s great for showing off services
your library provides to the
community.
Lastly, it’s a great way to connect
with patrons, but needs to be
updated often to keep hooking
followers and to keep them
updated about why they should
come your site ,or even better your
library.

LIBRARIES ON PINTEREST
13. Focus on pins patrons might be
interested in, and on “local” pins
as well.
Think like “the library” rather
than an individual when pinning
something.
Set up 16 boards for starters,
each with at least one staff
member in charge of it.
Write a short, “tweetable” blurb
for each pin you create.
Create a new board, and fill it up
with at least 9 things – this way,
the board doesn’t look “empty”.
Pin books from your catalog is a
great idea ,and make sure to link
the pin to catalog.
