Allergies are caused by a hypersensitive
reaction to substances which are ordinarily
harmless to others. These substances that
make you overreact are known as allergens.
There are a variety of allergens, namely pollen,

Allergies can be seasonal and chronic (all-year

• Increase the amount of Omega-3 in your diet. It counteracts your body’s inflammatory
reaction to your allergens. Omega-3 can be found in salmon and flaxseed.
• Honey. Honey has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. It is also an allergen to
some people; some experts believe that if you slowly introduce your allergen into your
body then your body will become immune to it. Simply take one teaspoon of raw,
organic, unheated honey. Farmers markets usually carry the highest quality of honey.
• Probiotics. Probiotics provide good bacteria to your digestive system. Several
naturopathic doctors say that the health of your digestive system is directly associated
to the health of your immune system. Look for probiotic capsules in the refrigerated
section at your local health food store. Remember to refrigerate your probiotics as soon
as possible.
After being outdoors during allergy season, be sure to take a hot shower right away, to wash
away an allergens that may have been obtained and also to wash the clothes you just wore
