The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program provides benefits and support to workers who lose their jobs due to international trade impacts. To receive benefits, an affected worker, union, or company must file a petition with the Department of Labor describing the circumstances of the job loss. DOL investigates to determine if increased imports, offshoring, or other trade-related issues caused the job loss. If certified, workers can access benefits like training, income support, job search assistance, and health care tax credits to help find new employment.
