several differences between MIG and TIG but the main one is that one you use long
welding rods and feed them in to the weld puddle (TIG) and the other you use a
continuously feeding wire (MIG). Both of these welding processes use an electric arc
during the weld. Relatively it is easier to learn and weld using MIG than learning how

A MIG welder uses a continuous feeding spool of welding wire that burns, melts and

On the other hand, TIG welding is a semi-automatic process where a foot pedal is

cleaner than that of MIG welding. Since the contamination is lower, it makes the
precision of the welds very high.
MIG welding is faster than using TIG welding, this is because, TIG welding requires
a little bit more skill. TIG welding requires tighter tolerances to be maintained
between the filler rod, the electrode and the work piece. During the welding TIG
primary uses argon as a shielding gas; helium can also be used occasionally. While
argon is also the primary shielding gas in MIG welding, argon mixtures and carbon
dioxide are often used. MIG welding uses a metal electrode that doubles as the filler
material and is consumed during the weld. On the other hand TIG uses a tungsten
electrode that is not consumed.

2. In conclusion although both MIG and TIG welding services have their advantages,
they cannot be used in place of the other. The two are not interchangeable and
should be used in different circumstances. MIG welding works better for larger
projects such as fixing patches on vehicles and is faster. TIG works better on exotic
metals such as gold, nickel, brass and alloy. It is able to create a more accurate and
neater look that MIG.TIG is also good for smaller projects such as welding a lawn
