Why I attended OOW10 + JavaOne?<br />Would like to see New Sun/Oracle vision.<br />See ‘Prince of Darkness = Dark Ironman :-P’<br />What Oracle going on with OSS they have especially wih Sun’s OSS like MySQL.<br />What Oracle going on with OpenSolaris Communityafter OGB retirement.<br />Know Oracle Vitrualization Products <br />Oracle VM(for x86,SPARC,which are based on Xen)<br />Virtualbox,Oracle VDI for Desktop<br />

Attended as ‘bloggers’<br />I attended as ‘blogger’ – to get free ticket for OOW + JavaOne<br />Almost 4,000US$ to attend the event.<br />But it took almost 2 monthes to be approved by Oracle.<br />Getting higher the fee for hotels in SF because of the event at that time.Cost me 180US$ near SFO Airport :(<br />

Day1 - MySQL Sunday<br />MySQL 5.5 which focuses on Windows<br />538% faster than old version.<br />ClouderaSqoop,a tool for hadoop,importingfrom MySQL is intersting.<br />AnnonucedExalogic 1 box for cloud computing. – out of the box.<br />Announced Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Enterprise solution with Oracle DB.75% faster than Redhatin OLTP benchmark<br />

Day2 – Solaris,Virtualization<br />Announced SPARC T3 processor 16 Core 128 threads and Fujitsu continue to invest for SPARC,continue to have a partnership with Oracle.<br />Announced Oracle ZFS appliance 7420 Series -50% faster than NetApp(really?)<br />OpenSolaris communities will be integrated to OTN.butdoesn’t answer clearly.<br />

Day2 (‘contd)<br />MacOS X runs on Oracle xVMvirtualbox 3.0 but it can run on Apple oriented machine (Macbook,iMac,.or) and planning to support on SunRayThinClientwith Oracle VDI<br />Interoperability Oracle VM templates – runs both Virtualbox and Oracle VM Server.<br />Virtualbox is for Devlopers using something development on their desktop PCs.<br />

Day2 (‘Contd)<br />Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder <br />Is for making templates including OracleDB,Siebel..or<br />It is like Source Juicer for OpenSolaris<br />Planning to release many OVM templates on their website.<br />Amazon now working with Oracle using OVM templates on EC2 (meant Public Cloud for Oracle??)<br />

Day3,4,5 – Solaris going on<br />Oracle Solaris 11 will be released next year.<br />Focus on x86 and SPARC server,supports PC laptops with virtualbox.<br />Solaris 8,9 containers discontinue to support on Solaris 11 (but support Solaris 10 container)<br />New Oracle Solaris Cluster<br />Oracle container Cluster (Container VM based)<br />Oracle Cluster Geographic Edition (DR) <br />

Visiting SVOSUG<br />After OOW10 I went to Mountain View to attend SVOSUG(Silicon Valley OpenSolaris User Group) meeting.<br />They were talking about OpenIndiana and illumos –OpenSolaris forked.<br />Illumos would be some business for Nexenta<br />Garrett D'Amorenow working almost for this illumos (90%)<br />

Wraps<br />Oracle seemed a way to restruct their product portfolio with Sun/Oracle merger.<br />Forus on and off<br />Discontinue and continue<br />Cease and more invest and develop.<br />It is the ‘festa’ for their customers ,not for developers (some ppl like me said that).<br />Developers ‘cant’ working together<br />
