Date of birth: 1st April, 1979
Place of birth: Santander, Cantabria.
When Ruth was only 8 years old, she dedicated herself to cross-race until Torralbo arrived to her live, he
helped her and taught about the tips she need to know to compete as a professional athlete. At the
Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Beitia became the first Olympic Athletics Champion in the history of
Spain. Her speciality was the high jump. Nowadays she is retired because of some problems she has in
her back but she accumulated 15 medals in her long career, four gold medals, six silver medals and five
bronzes medals.
