2. What is the BASQUE NATIONALIST PARTY?What

It is is a Christian democratic and Basque nationalist party. It is the oldest and largest Basque
nationalist political party. It is especially popular in Biscay but has a great influence in the entire
Basque Autonomous Community and has a minor presence in Navarre. In Basque it is called Euzko
Alderdi Jeltzalea or partido nacionalista vasco that means National Basque Party (EAJ PNV).
3. WHAT IS THE ALDERDI EGUNA? WHAT’S
THERE?
In the Basque Country this party, celebrates a special day in Basque called
‘Alderdi eguna’. This festivity brings together thousands of party members,
the most important event being the speech given by the PNV leaders. Early
in the morning, the festive atmosphere dominates, as the institutions and
delegations of different municipalities place Basque-inspired music on local
cheeses or drinks. There are also Basque dances, popular sports and
children's games.
