A Stutter…
Very sadly, bullying is still happening in our society. It occurs in school, in the workplace, and
essentially wherever people gather.
It can really be hard for someone who has a stutter. Especially when you are a young child
or a progressing teen.
As a grown up though things can be equally as hard and people can be equally as ignorant
when faced with someone who stutters and stammers.
Some advice for anyone who has faced bullying when it comes to stuttering is that they try
to remember that the real person with the problem is the bully.
That person is ignorant and really is suffering inside. People who try to make others look
bad or feel bad usually feel bad themselves deep down.
If people are bullying you talk to your parent about it or talk to a teacher or school
councillor.
If you are in your adult years then consider talking to a councillor about the thoughts and
feelings you have about your stutter. Putting your emotions into words and telling someone
deals with that particular emotion. It lets it out instead of burying it deep down.
Remember you are no less of a person than the next person. You are beautiful and your
stutter does not have to and should not in any way define your life or your happiness. I will
