What are Population Pyramids?

   The population pyramid is a graphical
    illustration that shows the distribution of
    various age groups in a population which
    forms the shape of a pyramid when the
    population is growing.
What data does a population
pyramid have?
   The population pyramid has information
    about the total percentage of people in each
    age group. It is displayed in four different types
    of population pyramids.
What creates their shape ?
What are population pyramids used
for?
   Population pyramids are used to analyze
    growth or decline of mortality, fertility , and
    migration in cities.
Who use Population Pyramids?

   A geographer uses population pyramids as a
    blueprint for interpreting the dynamics of a
    population.
What do they tell us?

   A population pyramid tells you if your
    population has increased or decreased or even
    stayed the same.
