1. Choose a quote (1-3 sentences) from the second section of your novel. Copy the passage below,
and explain why you believe it is significant in a minimum of 5 sentences.
2. Choose 1new stylistic technique that the author uses to communicate more effectively and
powerfully. Examples of stylistic techniques include: point of view; tone; diction (word choice);
syntax (word order); satire/humor; figurative language (simile, metaphor, etc.); imagery; irony,
and many more. For the technique, do the following:
A. Define the technique in your own words
B. Cite the example from the text (include page #)
C. Provide a brief analysis of how the author uses the technique effectively (3-5 sentences)
3. Generate 2 questions that Section 2of the text raises for you.
4. Find an outside source related to your book. This could be a youtube video, a song inspired by
the book, a criticism, a piece of artwork, etc. Print or copy the link to this source and bring it with
you to class to share with your group (and with me!)
