Starcraft?

• An RTS (Real time strategy) game
  developed by Blizzard Entertainment.
• Released back in March 1998
• 11 Million copies sold world wide
• A profession in South Korea and Europe
What is an RTS


• A complex game where you manage your
  armies and resources from the ground up.
Mad Skillz

• Opening
• Resource Management
• Scouting
• Micromanagement
• Macromanagement
Picking your
          Race(Team)

• Most crucial aspect of an RTS
• Pick the best race/team that suits your
  style/mindset
I. Opening
•   Plan

    •   Army combinations

    •   Exploitable positions

    •   Early game advantage

•   Prepare for the worst early-game scenario

•   Types :

    •   All-in

    •   Flexible (For long games)

•   Noobs go head on without a plan
II. Resource
         Management
• Basic necessity to achieve other tasks that
  require spending.
• Types:
 • In game resources ($$$)
 • Off game resources (Player skills)
• Noobs tend to forget to manage doing this
  during the entire game
III. Scouting
• Adapt to what the other guy’s planning to
  throw at you
• Information is a resource
• Maximize your advantage
• Minimize your risk
• Noobs fail to scout the entire game
IV. Micromanagement
• Controlling individual units, making sure
  that they do what they do best
• Not losing track of your guys while you’re
  doing all sorts of other stuff
• Mostly about putting your guys in an
  advantageous position... NOT
  MULTITASKING
V. Macromanagement

• Base management
• Decision making
 • Research (Improving your guys skills)
 • Recruiting more people
 • Building more bases for more resources
Multitasking?

• Is a sin...
• Multitasking = less focus for more
  important stuff :(
• Be familiar of the “Routine” or the pattern
Bad Starcraft Players

• Play lots of games but do the same mistake
  every time
• ... Are not aware of the problems that they
  face
• ...Are Always caught off guard
Good SC2 Players

• Play less, study more
• Watch their own replays
• Play to improve
Retrospect

• What went right
• What went wrong
• Areas for improvement
Get tools that make tracking your progress and activity
                       EZPZ :)
How did you allocate your resources?
Keep track of how often you play.
Keep track of the things you did across all games and their
                       success rate
