Editor's Notes
Good afternoon, my name is Jake Snider, I’m the Sr. Accounts rep for MediaCon inc. I would like to welcome you all to this presentation and hopefully answer any questions you may have as to what social media is and how it can grow your business and keep you connected with your customers.
Back in the late 70s BBS’s were the height of social media and the name says it all, they were little more than a bulletin board on your screen, but it gave you a way to interface via your computer. In the mid-eighties came instant messaging, a way to instantly chat with anyone privately via computer. Not much later came public forums where anyone could post a topic and folks could have a discussion with varied opinions in real time.
Today we are much more advanced, with sites such as these, you can stay in touch with people all over the world, be apprised of what articles your friends are reading or what their last big purchase was. It’s a way of getting to know your customer in a unobtrusive way. As long as they are linked to you, they will know of your latest/greatest keyboard or mouse and have a space in which to discuss it.
Did you know that 50% of adults use social media? Advertising has taken a leap into the 21st century, although your name in the yellow pages, a newspaper or television ad or a magazine article can certainly boost your visibility, you are also blanketing the market. Northwestern Technologies does not need to advertise to the 90 year old man who has never used a computer or the 6 year old kid who’s only concern is when the next cartoon will be on. Social media is a much more focused and interactive way of getting through to your customers. You must staycompetitive by remaining connected with your customers.
MediaCon would like to offer Northwestern Technologies the opportunity to increase your visibility, inform consumers of new product instantly and gain direct feedback from your customers. I’m sure you have taken notice that some of your strongest competitors i.e.: Logitech, Microsoft, Razor ect. have embraced social media, such as interactive mobile applications, customer forums and social site capabilities as a viable marketing tool. MediaCon intends to update your social media marketing by creating a Northwestern Technologies mobile app which will keep consumers apprised of new products and let them know of any specials upcoming and where to purchase these great devices. With the great Facebook/Twitter uprising, we would like to create and maintain accounts for Northwestern Technologies on these social media giants in order to give your customers a “sounding board” on their favorite products, concerns and suggestions for future products of Northwestern Technologies. Along that same line, we would like to create a forums page on your main website as an alternate way to keep in touch with your customers.
In conclusion, you can save money by targeting only those customers that would be interested in buying your products. You can stay competitive by making your company visible within the social network, as well as creating a more relaxed customer service relationship. With Northwest Technologies and MediaCon the future looks very bright indeed. Thank you for your time.
