- The community school plans designed by architects at Tuskegee Institute. Very specific. Lots of natural sunlight. Facing best direction for light and ventilation.
- September, 1928 storm killed over 2000 people. Lake Okeechobee - earthen dike overflowed Flooded and drowned. Letters describing the devastation. State Supervisor of Negro Schools to Rosenwald Fund Administrator.
- All of the schools received damage, Rosenwald building only $60. White school built in 1926 lost its roof.
- Visited local Historical Societies, BRHS, BBHS, HSPBC, Spady Museum, Fisk University, Database showed 11 schools build between 1925 and 1931.
- Rosenwald schools are the the National Preservation Trust most endangered list. Schools being restored for community use, oral history interviews, state historical markers for locations of past schools.
- Met interesting people, relative of JR wrote book. Sent her working bibliography. Asked me to be a guest blogger for her You Need A Schoolhouse Blog. Plans underway for a 100th Anniversary commemorating the first Rosenwald School. Nashville Tennessee
