1. How Do I Find Happiness?
I've been asked this question: How do I
find happiness? I've thought long and
hard about this question especially in
relation to the younger generation. Why
the younger generation? They seem to
think happiness has to be some kind of
external pleasure. Hence, we have
gadgets, entertainment, and what have
you to fill the void within us with the
hope that we will be happy. Sad but
true.
Many who seek happiness are still
eagerly waiting for their situation to
change before allowing themselves to be
truly happy? Most of us have
preconceived ideas of what would make
us happy, and we refuse to be satisfied
until those things happen!
Heard About The Lasting Happiness & Success Formula?
Guess what? When those specific things do happen in our lives, we’re
rarely satisfied with them! So we then shift our focus to something even
bigger and better, with the belief that “this” will definitely make us
happy. Can you see the pattern here? The truth is, we never really allow
ourselves to reach a point of contentment. That's the key: Contentment.
The happiest people in the world are content with what they have. They
appreciate every single little thing to the extent that they are completely
and utterly happy.
Easier said than done, you might say. Well, that's okay. Don't fret! The
good news is that you can decide to be happy NOW – even if not
everything in your life is perfect.
2. Let me share with you just 3 easy ways to achieve contentment and find
happiness:
#1 Being Grateful
Gratitude is one of the most powerful states of mind that you can adopt.
Not only does it make you feel good, it shifts your focus from what you
don’t have to what you DO have. The best part is that it keeps it there!
When you focus on even the smallest blessings, and you're grateful for
them, you will stop worry about anything that may be lacking. The
result? A wonderful sense of blissful happiness!
#2 Stopping to smell the roses.
If you're always rushing and feel you're being pushed for time, then it's
going to be really difficult to feel content and happy. In order to feel
truly happy, it is imperative that you make time for yourself. You need
to make time to bask in relaxing moments. You need to dream and soak
in all the pleasures of the simple things in life. You need to enjoy quiet
moments. Make a commitment to spend time doing what you love. I for
one, love to read and so my happy moments are spent reading books
that stimulate my imagination while listening to music that I love. I
practice yoga daily, take long strolls while basking in the beauty of
nature. Why wait for the right time? It may never come. Enjoy what
you love doing now. Experience every moment in the moment. That
moments may pass you by and be lost forever. Life if short. Live in the
moment.
#3 Life is a journey. Embrace it.
Most of us seem to believe that once we "get there" all will be well and
we will be happy. So we choose to postpone everything, and place all
our expectations on some long-term goal. Promising ourselves that once
those goals are completed, we will have the time to be happy. My dad
was one such person. He postponed travelling (even though he worked
for an airline and was able to travel at discounted prices). He always
said that he will travel once he retired. As a retiree he could still travel
at a discount. Guess what? His health took a turn for the worse and he
became blind because of diabetes. That day never came! His mistake
was not realizing that life is a journey. There is much to be gained from
enjoying the journey.
3. Make it your mission to revel in every moment in your journey in life.
Go ahead and accomplish your goals. Keep your commitments. But
love the journey and make it a worthwhile journey. When you do so, the
you will have no regrets and you will be happy.
Find Out About The Lasting Happiness & Success Formula
If there is one important thing I have to say about finding happiness, it is
this: Understand that happiness is largely a choice you make from
moment to moment. Although there may be situations when it can be
difficult to feel happy, we should strive not to allow those little
situations to bother us and block our happiness. Happiness can be found
in any situation if you learn to be grateful. Embrace life and you will
find happiness.
